IMO, feeding better quality food is better for feline health overall, but whether or not it will change the feel of their coat i'm not sure. i believe some members who feed their bengals all raw have commented that their fur feel silkier or the glitter shines more, but i can't be certain. definitely Nala's coat (brown spotted) feels silkier than Tigger's (snow spotted), but they're both on the same food (they get Taste of the Wild dry and Pets at Home Purely range wet), both of which i took a lot of time considering different brands to find which would be of good quality (ie with a higher meat content and no grain)

Low protein diets may also be a factor in coat colour change, because tyrosine, an amino acid, is important for the production of coat colour, but low protein diets contain less tyrosine than normal diets. The carnivore connection to nutrition in cats (no abstract provided, but the document may be found here (2002) Zoran D Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association 221 pp1559-67 explains more about this (see page 3). If your cat has any Siamese genes, the points may darken as a cat ages. The coat colour of Siamese and Himalayans (colourpoint Persians) is actually determined by temperature changes. As cats age, their circulation often worsens, so their extremities become cooler and their points get darker. However, sick cats with Siamese genes who have a raised temperature (e.g. because of an infection) may actually develop lighter colour fur. In either case, it is normally nothing to worry about.

Quality of food definitely affects quality of coat, but I doubt it would affect color/contrast. When I got Snowpoke he had been eating Orijen 6 Fish dry food and Innova Cat & Kitten wet food... switching him to 95% meat canned food actually changed his coat from kind of coarse to very silky. The breeder had been feeding him pretty decent food, but switching to grain-free still made a difference. However, they have both been on raw for two months now but I actually see no difference in their coats (or behavior) whatsoever.

Like others have mentioned though, the most important reason to feed your cats well is for their health!

I have 2 bengal kittens 9 months, one silver and black and one marble. They are both fed the same Royal canine kitten with a little wet food for bit variety and use boiled chicken breast for training and tit bits and extra protein yet the marble kittens coat looks dry and coarse while the other kittens is like silk. Don't really want to change there food as the vet says they're doing really well on it. Does anyone know of a supplement I could give my marble to improve his coat?
