Can anyone recommend a GOOD Cat Litter

We use the World's Best cat litter at the moment, but it is quite expensive and although it lasts a while, with two bengals that are house bound, it doesn't last as long as it should.

We have tried others, but none come close to beating World's best, not only is it odourless, but it clumps brilliantly, is dust free, so is also harmless to the bengals, and it is also flushable.

We've noticed that alot of the breeders at the shows use the wood derived pellet stuff.....looks more like food that litter to me.....but It must be either good stuff or cheap because they all sing its praises!

I seen some crystal looking stuff too.....they always seem to have a demo table at most shows, It seems ok but looks a bit on the pricey side considering what it's for! :blink: .....go to the next show in your area.....in fact theres one at stafford soon I think, That should be close to you.....maybe!

Anyways you'll be able to see it in action there (looks like it does a good job)

We use something called pink (not sure who makes it), It's basically normal litter but pink.....and it doesn't clump....I can't stand clumping stuff, Makes me start heaving....In fact any kind of litter tray stuff knocks me sick (mee thinks it's a male weak stomach thing

).....Gavin must be the same for sure!

I actually prefer the clumping stuff as it's easier to remove the "deposits" rather than change the whole litter everyday. This World's best though also seems to be the World's most expensive :lol:

so we need to find an alternative before we go bankrupt!

How do we find out when and where shows are? Would like to go along and see some more Bengals and get some treats etc for our monkeys

The GCCF have a list of approved shows on their web site <a href='http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/GCCF_CATS/shows.htm' target='_blank'>GCCF Cat Shows</a>. If the cat club putting on the show has a web site they put a link to the site as well. We usually go through the list, find out which ones are close enough for us to go to and then request an entry form. It can be difficult to determine which shows will have Bengals there but as a rule any of the Area/Regional Named shows (such as North West Cat Club etc) tend to be "All Breed" shows so you will find ALL breed types and household cats too. The breed named clubs such as "Blue Pointed Siamese Cat Club" & "Bengal Cat Club of Great Britain" Are breed specific shows (so don't go to the Blue Pointed Siamese Cat Club if your looking for Bengals

HOWEVER.....TICA now have a show in the UK. It's called <a href='http://www.cattica.co.uk/TICA_ShowDec.htm' target='_blank'>CatTICA</a> and it's an "All Breeds" show that will be held on 18 December 2004 in Wolverhampton (which I think is pretty close to you). I have a feeling that there will be lots of Bengals there. The Bengal breed can not yet gain Championship status with the GCCF (because it is a fairly new breed) However, TICA does recognise Bengals at Championship level. To top this off, TICA have made an amendment for the UK show that enables your cat to become a champion in 1 SHOW.

Sooo, something tells me that lots of Bengal breeders trying to gain championship status for their UK Cats will be attending this show

Hi Nikki,

we've been using clay litter for 7 years with our adult cats and have never had a health problem.

I know what you mean though about bad reviews on clay litter because it isn't advisable to use with kittens because
when they first learn to use the litter tray they like to taste it too to see if they can eat it

This can be fatal to kittens if they were to digest clay litter, resulting in prolapse of the bowel and death.

We only use wood pellets or Yesterdays News for kittens

I do like Worlds Best but it's very expensive when you've got 7 adult cats :cry:

Has anyone here ever tried Swheat Scoop? Supposedly it clumps well, is flushable, eliminates odor, contains no clay or chemicals and has low dust. It's made from natural wheat and it's also cheaper than World's Best. The breeder we're getting our kitten from uses Feline Pine Pellets. As soon as she settles in I would like to transition her over to non-pellet litter. I like litter that clumps. Anyway, just checking to see if anyone has any experience with Swheat Scoop. Pros? Cons?

Well, you should know, I use & LOVE SWheat Scoop!

I'm sticking with it because Target carries it at a very good price and it clumps good and you can flush it even!

I better go to bed now, I have insomnia.
