Raw Diet

I'd like to start transitioning my gang onto a raw diet or at least part raw.

Hugo and Rufus are on part raw as they catch wild rabbits and judging by the "bits" left in the garden just about eat the whole thing. :shock:

I notice when they are eating a lot of rabbit their condition is great. They are sleek, shiny and well muscled.

During the winter I think there is less around so they eat more at home. I'd like to give them more raw to compliment their diet.

Inca and Marley are Indoor kitties but seeing how positve the effects of raw are on the two "hunters" I'd like to transition them also.

I know there are some experienced raw feeders on this forum. Can you give me advice on how to start doing this. How to do the transition and what to feed and how often? I currently work full time so don't really have the time to grind up bones and tussle with organs etc, so is there something that I can add to ground chicken or turkey?

My lot are currently all on Sannabelle Sensitive Biscuits and Bozita canned chicken.

hi trudi, the only thing i know of that you can add to raw turkey or chicken is the instincts plus liver, its the only supplement needed, there are other supplements you could add but it would mean adding heart, gizzards also, so if you just want 1 supplement to add to minced turkey/chicken that is the 1... you order here

i would do the transition by adding some raw in with their bozita to start with, but if they like raw they will switch easily... i feed mine 3 to 4 times a day, 50gms per meal, but you could feed them more in each sitting and feed them twice a day, or feed them bozita in the morning and raw at night, but as i said if they get the taste for raw they will probably refuse other food xx

not sure on that as i buy turkey breast and thighs from my butchers and i dont mince them, the only minced mine get in the rabbit as in the link above, but turkey i chop up small.... i know in pets at home they sell big frozen bags of minced turkey, but dont know what its like hun?? xx

not any more, i used to leave them down, a mixture of orijen and purina one, but darcy started to eat only biscuits and no raw, and she seemed to sleep a lot and not look so healthy, so i stopped the dry all together, it was hard to get her on to raw, but now she eats it, she is looking much healthier and is so lively again.... i do have to sprinkle thrive chicken on her raw though just a tiny sprinkling and it makes her eat it..... i also give them chicken wings to chew on too.... xx
