I bought the Kenwood with 2000W. Very funny story...sort of. I'm glad the guy who tried not to sell it to me wasn't there. It was for sale for $399 with a $50 rebate. He offered me $50 off plus the rebate. They guy I got today sold it to me for $300 plus the rebate, so in effect, I got it for $250! I feel better!
Now that I have used it to grind up a couple carcasses...I have decided that if they create a chicken with no sinew I will be first in line! I am really happy I went with the 2000W, I only needed to use 1st speed and reverse. This baby will do 3kg in 1 min sans sinew.
A point worth mentioning though. When I read about the sinew, I thought..gee how difficult is that? Just clear it out and the cats can chew on it. NO!! It has really spiky, dangerous shards of bone mixed with it that makes it not worth saving the sinewy bits.
Another thing is: At first it seemed a daunting task. I haven't seen a grinder since I was tiny and my Mom was grinding up bear, moose, & deer meat. I have never seen grinding of bones. I realise now I need a meat cleaver to help speed the task along. I was awkward, and it seemed almost impossible..I kept thinking "If Louise-Paisley has done this for so long, I can too..there is an easy way!" As I got more comfortable with everything, it did get easier and almost mundane!
Unfortunately.. I realised..I watch way too many CSI type shows...and of course the real thing in Canada is the Picton Farm...
Moving on..it is for my kitties! I love them like I did for my unborn children..I give birth next week...
