Hello everyone!

I am looking for a bengal kitten to bring home sometime early next year. I have been doing my research on local breeder in southern California. BishopsBengal (karenkritters) looks like a great responsible breeder but is a tad bit far for me as I am in Orange County. There is also bengalbabies in Newport Coast, the breeder Carrie seems to be very famous and has a lot of great yelp reviews but I read one bad review online about a kitten getting sick and passing away and the owner had to take her to court which throws me off a little.

So I am still looking. Has anyone purchased a Bengal from BabyBengals (the breeder's name is Tiffani) before and what was your experience and how is your kitty doing?

I just checked their website and saw their kitten prices. I now things cost more out in California. The kitties are gorgeous. I did check out the pedigrees they have online. I do not have any of their queens or studs in my database (I will add them). Queens Kiki and Crystal come from the SierraGold lines (father's side), which are quality lines -- the dam side, I'm not familiar with. They are F9's. Jewel's pedigree is unfamiliar to me but she would be no more than an F8.

The best research you can do is online. Note we don't have a lot of members who currently post regularly so the chance of your finding someone who has dealt with them is probably slim.

You mentioned Bishops Bengals. I currently have 44 of their cats in my database and their bengals are gorgeous! I know it's difficult to go with your gut feeling, but it may be worth a trip to visit Karen's cattery and see for yourself. That's the BEST advice I can give anyone seeking to adopt a bengal. Visit in person and see for yourself. If something doesn't look right ... walk away. You are spending a LOT of money on a cat that you hope will be your friend for many, many years.

Thank you Sherry for your valuable response. I just visited BabyBengal's cattery and I was very impressed. I had visited two other breeders before and the breeders were all very nice and professional but their breeding cats and previous kittens' markings were not remarkable, also the other two catteries were outside of the house so I was not sure how well socialize the kittens would be.

I really liked the set up, parents and coats that Babybengal had. Everything was super clean and there was no strong odors, which I personally am ocd about. But she had one sire on site and 3-4 dam's, is this normal? They had all their own private areas and plenty of space to roam in the cattery and inside the large home but I feel like with 3-4 dams having potentially 2 litters a year each that is a lot of litters to have a year. I assumed that a small cattery would have only one or two litters total a year or am I wrong?

I also looked up the pedigree for Dams Crystal and Kiki after you mentioned it. Crystal is expecting a litter soon and her grandfather, SierraGold It's Vegas ,was a Supreme Grand Champion. Googling him up he was also awarded the Jean Mills Visionary Award which I presume is a big deal and a good sign.

From my research all around though, $1800-1900 for a pet kitten does seem steep - definitely above average even in California. I am not sure how much kittens are at Bishop Bengals. At the same time, Baby Bengal's kittens do look show quality esque - i think from the standards I have been reading online for a bengal . Baby Bengal (tiffani) said with a deposit early enough I would get first or second pick from one of her next litters meaning there could be a kitten with the right headshape, puffy whisker pads and large vivid rossettes.

Also it looks like from the pedigree PDF's BabyBengal Dams are from Bengalbabies anyways. I have not gone to Bengal Babies' cattery yet but its next on my list. And I will visit Bishop Bengals per your recommendation.
