Hi everyone. I know similar questions have been asked. Sorry. I have recently bought a beautiful Bengal girl as some of you may know. I will be bringing her home at the end of May. Killer wait! The more research I do I keep seeing that people often get 2 together. I am now concerned about my little girl being lonely. None of her litter are left. I am very unsure whether or not to find another kitten available around the same time and have them together for company while my boyfriend and I are at work. Our main reason for not wanting 2 kittens is that we can't really afford to buy 2. If this was to change would anyone recommend getting 2? Another kitten from a different breeder but bringing them home around the same time and same age?

If we do get another my boyfriend would really like a silver rosetted boy, that was his choice all along but I won and got our lovely brown little girl. Does anyone know of any good silver breeders in the uk? I can't find many online. If anyone knows any please let me know!

I know I enjoy watching our two Bengal girls playing and cuddling together and I do feel better knowing they have each other when I'm at work or on vacation. If you can't afford another Bengal, give consideration to getting a moggie kitten - they will also grow up together as friends.

before you decide whether or not to get a second kitten please consider the following :
- do you have enough space in your house for when they grow. Bengals are very active - they need lot of running around space , numerous climbing frames etc
for 2 bengals - you would need at least couple of large cat trees.
- you would need at least 4 litter boxes. Mine like to use a separate box each for 1) and 2)
- male cats/bengals tend to get very territorial and dominant with maturity . Do you have a separate room to make available for your girl if that happens?
- do you have an outdoor cat enclosure ?

also have a read about other people having behavioural problems with 2 cats .
some of them ended up rehoming ... this is very sad

Please be considerate when thinking about having second cat.

We have two female bengals and they are best friends. All cats are different...but there is a good chance of two bengal kittens growing up to be friend if they are raised together, male or female.

My $0.02 is that you have kind of a short window of opportunity where you can get two bengals while they are young (probably <1 yr or so), where you greatly increase your odds of having a very smooth, quick introduction and easy acceptance of one another. Plus the fact that the "kitten stage" is the time where I think two cats can most enjoy each other's company. After that period, you can certainly get a second one, many people do, but there is likely to be a much tougher introduction, and you may have to be satisfied with two cats that accept each other as "roommates".

You mention money being tight. You definitely need to budget for "some stuff" happening during that first year in particular. That first year typically seems to be a pretty expensive year of pet ownership, not even counting the purchase price(s). Several routine vet visits, a spay/neuter (if your breeder isn't handling that), and very likely some miscellaneous "colds" and quite often some sort of parasite treatment (Giardia/TF etc). Personally I think it makes a lot of sense to get pet insurance right away, particularly in a case like yours.

Anyhow, good luck with getting your cat, and your second cat decision. It may not be the end of the world to just wait a year or two, before getting the second cat, and then just plan on having to be patient with their acceptance of one another. If you do decide to get two cats, I do recommend making the second one a bengal also because bengals are pretty demanding as far as having an equally rough-and-tumble playmate.

Our 8 year old Moggie enjoys playing (a lot) with our two bengals (they are 18 months and 22 months), so moggies and bengals can do just fine together - and I imagine a bengal and moggie growing up together would be buddies just the same as two bengal kittens.

Try Silverglam Bengals from Glitterglam in Peterborough. Very reputable breeder.

When I went to get mine boy from there a month ago almost, they had some young silvers but they weren't ready to go. They have a fantastic cattery which is well worth a visit!
