I brought Lily home when she was 12 weeks old. She was born May 20th of 2013 and so she's nearly 2 years old. Soaking wet she's about 7 pounds. She's tiny compared to a lot of the pictures I see floating around on the forums but I hear she's average weight for a female. But besides the sizing, I wanted to know what everybody thought of her coloring. I want to know how much I should pay for my next Bengal compared to Lily. I have a very good feel for what LIly looks like and it would be helpful if some people could help me price my next cat. Based on what I have, how much should I have paid or how much should I expect to pay for my next cat if I get a cat that is of similar markings or better.

She is a very pretty girl! It also all depends on where you are located!

I think that you will pay as much as you need to get the cat that you want.

Within reason I am not sure that money has that much to do with choosing.

It is not common in the UK to grade prices on how good they look. Prices tend to be based on pet or breeding. So whether it is a really pretty cat that is going to a pet home or a cat with less conformation to the Bengal standard, it would still be priced the same.

This us what I'm used to.

For me prices should be pretty standard and personality is far more important.

She us quite a pretty girl, I like her light silver colouring. She has some tarnishing which is common in silvers.

I have noticed here in the states silvers usually are priced a little higher, an untarnished silver can be EXTREMELY expensive! I have seen very nice quality kittens priced anywhere from 500 to 2000 dollars. Charcoals are also very "in" right now and will usually cost more! A lot of factors play a role in price other than markings. If the breeder screens for hcm and pk def they should have higher prices to cover those cost but not extremely high. If the kitten is spayed or neutered before leaving that will increase the price. I will put it this way, if I ever get another bengal I will expect to pay between 1000-1500 us dollars for the quality silver I would be looking for. Of course that will be from hcm screened lines and early spayed neutered. I think its also worth mentioning that paying a little extra for a kitten from health screened parents is worth the investment! They are often around the same price as a kitten would be from unscreened lines. A very known breeder had to retire an amazing stud due to hcm and he is a very young cat, around a year old. If he were able to keep producing he could have hundreds of infected cats down the lines! Make sure the parents are currentky screened for hcm if nothing else!

I was a little disappointed with my breeder looking back on it. Part of the contract for a "pet" bengal like I bought was that I spayed her myself. At some point I was also supposed to get genetic paperwork that she never followed through on so even if I wanted to show Lily I can't. For my first exotic cat I had no idea what I was doing and should have done a little more research but, on the flip side, I got what I would consider to be the perfect cat... so no complaints here!

Part of the most of the pet contracts I have seen has been that you spay/neuter and when proof is sent back to the breeder, you get the paperwork. I think she is pretty and their markings can and do change as they get older. In terms of size, she looks about the same size as my girl. Most girls I have seen are petite but tend to make up for their size in attitude.

I would follow up with your breeder again regarding the paperwork. In terms of getting another, I would decide what you are interested in in terms of color and markings and then look around for breeders that can show pictures from previous litters and do all the testing they should. The only price differences I have seen is pet vs. breeder quality kittens, retired cats tend to be cheaper (but the breeders are very picky about the homes they go to), and if a kitten is older they may give you a cheaper price.

I am from the midwest and there are a decent number of breeders around me, so that is what my experience is based on.
