It's kind of funny how the second kitten has these REAL DARK markings on the legs and real light markings on the body. But let's face it, they are both beautiful kittens. Do you have the opportunity to meet them and interact with them? If so, by far, the personality and the rapport is the thing. It easily easily trumps looks, and so does health.

For me the second kitten with the donut markings looks healthier - The first has a bit of a squint, possibly weepy eyes?
As Brianj said, visit and see which one picks you - That way you will have a life-bond!

Thanks jodonut! I just emailed the breeder about his eyes because after looking again, it definitely looks like he may have a bit of conjunctivitis. We shall see what she says about this and hopefully it is taken care of soon!

Just spoke with the breeder who responded within minutes at nearly midnight! She assures me that his eyes are good- no discharge or signs of infection. She said she will keep an eye on him for the squinting and that she absolutely will not let any kitten go home if they are showing signs of illness. Also, the contract has a 72 hour guarantee if my vet finds any health issues with the kitten. I feel much better now!

They are both beautiful kittens, and I would have trouble choosing! When I got a kitten years ago, it was she who chose me, and we had 15 happy years together. Cleopatra stayed with my Dad when I moved out, as he had her sister, Cassandra, and I couldn't bear to split them up, and I kept visitation rights. When I went home, it was always me she ran straight to for cuddles / food / play or reassurance... That bond cannot be broken easily!

Before you make a final decision contact the breeder and arrange for another visit.....
If possible have the two kittens together in the room with you and see how they interact with you. I'm sure they will have different personalities and one will probably be bolder than the other.
Take your time and play with the kittens, go home, think about it then make your choice, do not rush into it.
My kitten chose me ......... I actually went to see a female kitten whose picture was on the breeders website and while I was there this little guy would not leave me alone, from chewing my laces to trying to climb on my shoulders. The female was very shy and smaller, so the little guy won.
I have had him 6 months now and definitely made the right choice, he is my best friend and as I am home most of the day he follows me EVERYWHERE even in the shower! He is a bundle of mischevious energy and loves to play until he flops then settles down for a cuddle in his blankie.
Anyway what I'm saying is take your time to choose, visit and interact as much as the breeder will allow before making a final decision as the kitty will hopefully be part of your life for years to come.

I have just come through a similar problem! All the kittens I looked at were beautiful and it was so hard to decide on looks. In the end we made our decision based on looks, all the character information the breeder could give us, videos and the dam and sire.

Those are both beautiful kittens so I don't know how you would choose on that alone. I was able to see pictures of the three generations of boys before mine so I was lucky in that respect. My kitty has a lot of the same characteristics as his dad who has a darker coat and I think he's lovely.

Some breeders will offer a discount on the second kitten. I got my 2 from the same breeder, they were from different litters that had already been weaned from their mothers a week or 2 before I got there to see that in the short time together they were already good chums. It was a great decision for me to buy them both.[/size][/size]

Noticed the post above, and that is exactly what happened with us. We had a deposit, had first choice, wife wanted a female; I wanted a male. "We" picked the female. Couple days later we floated the idea of not splitting the two apart, checked with the breeder and they implied they would very much prefer to keep siblings together if at all possible. They said they offer a discount when retaining a pairing.

So now we are getting two!

Choose the one that hugs at your heart strings -- appearance doesn't really matter. If I were getting a bengal kitten, I'd probably get two of them because my sole "child" is a handful. But he's 7 years old and I've only had him for a year.
