I have been in discussion with a reputable, registered Bengal breeder that has come to me very highly recommended. The breeder informed us that kitten that we were planning to purchase (3.5 months) was found to have a stage 2 heart murmur. The kitten is set to be re-checked and neutered next week. Does anyone have any experience with kittens with heart murmurs? The breeder says this is something that could clear up on its own, but there is a small chance of serious complications. Should we continue to consider adding this little guy to our family?

It's actually "Grade 2", but anyway... it does say murmurs can go away after a few months. Does this breeder have any health guarantee or have they said if something were to happen and it was serious, that they would replace the kitten? Me personally, I would probably opt for another kitten... but that's just me. I am a very emotional person and I can get attached to a kitty within minutes and if something were to happen to that kitty within a few months.. I would be emotionally devastated.

Does the breeder screen all their breeding cats for HCM?

...if not I would be looking for a different breeder.

I was in similar sitiation and opted to go with our selected kitten as I got attached to him and just could not "replace" him as in "faulty goods". But thats me.
We took him in and went through several check ups and (expensive) scans over past 2 years and they think he is ok for now.
I of course always keep a close eye on him and always on the look out for any symptoms.
But i would not have it any other way. He is our family.
