I'm wanting a Bengal cat, I've no pets right now my husband isn't really on board for this but knows how much I want a pet. But because of what I read it sounds like and interesting breed. My husband likes dogs, so maybe its manner which I read something thinking they are a dog might persuade him easier them a more finicky cat, I hope you understand what I mean.
But, the most important thing is I have a granddaughter that is highly allergic to cats, even though the other grandparents have two Ragdoll cats (and thought they were hypoallergenic) she is extremely allergic having to take medicine and her puffer anytime she is there, which I find cruel. So having said this cannot do this to her if for any reason Bengals are. They too are listed in the allergy department, so has anyone experienced problems with any of their cats?
Your answers will be my decision breaker, I love my granddaughter too much and then would not get a cat. Thanks for all the information and response I hope I will be getting.

The only way you will know if your granddaughter is allergic to Bengals is to take her along with you to the breeders and let her interact with them and see if she is allergic.

I am extremely allergic to cats (moggies, persians etc) but not at all allergic to Bengals. However, this won't be the same for everyone.

My sonis highly allergic to cats and will break out in hives if he is close to most cats . However he has not had a problem with either of my bengals. He is on daily allergy meds but like I said he doesn't react to our cats. I would agree and say your grand daughter needs to go to the breeders with you. Not only can allergies vary from breed to breed but from cat to cat. One cat may produce higher levels of protein than another cat. The specialist my son goes to recommends that we do a saliva bandaid test with any new cat we get. Which consist of taking a cotton swab and collecting the cats saliva and placing the cotton tip under a bandaid. If there is a skin reaction then he is allergic. With her having asthmatic symptoms I would be very cautious doing thst!!!!

Ona side note I didnt like cats at all, my husband talked me into getting a cat and I only wanted a Bengal or sphynx. Needless to say we got our first and she is the best pet ever, now we have two  I am still a dog person too I just love my bengals more than any pet I have ever had!

thank you so much for your feedback. It is a good idea to take her with me I'll have to wait once she's back here lives 2/12 hrs away.
You have beautiful cats and hopefully my husband will enjoy a cat in the house.

No I didn't go alone, I went with my daughter. I am taking baby steps and I mean baby steps. First of all am not going to decide till we come home from a vacation. Wouldn't be fair to the cat. When we came home he listened and wasn't negative that's a step. I myself have never seen the breed only online, so that's why I didn't take him on the first visit. I believe he will love them but knowing my husband I go slow with this.
Thank you for all your suggestions, about him doing the feeding at night, knowing my husband he will be sneaking in some playtime when I'm not looking. That's just the way he is. I have to just have patience for this to work, but I will recommend for him to go with me next time.

thanks

I had a little bit of this when I wanted to get my bengal.

Hubby is really a "dog person" so it took a little persuasion. Then he was adamant we were having only one (we got two brothers) haha. Then he moaned about the cost on top of what we'd paid for the kittens (beds, scratch posts, toys, cat carrier, litter trays, etc). Then they came from the "breeder" with what turned out to be TF so smell, mess and vet costs (even though insured still had to pay excess).

However, he worships and loves Rio and Chilli to death now and said he is so glad we got two. He gets up for work before me and feeds them a treat of sardines or mackerel and as soon as he comes home from work he's down on the floor playing and snuggling with them. We don't let them sleep in our bed through the night yet but as I type this yes - they are both fast asleep on the bed with hubby snoring - he called to them to follow him upstairs when he went to bed
