Proud slave to a 4-month old rosetted male here :-)

We always wanted to have two cats eventually, we didn't get two at the same time because we were worried about the allergies (as we have a history). So far so good, so we are exploring our options!
We are a working couple so we are gone for the most of the day 3-4 times a week (one of us works from home once or twice a week), so the little rascal could use some extra company when we are away, and I believe we'll be ready for the second cat in a couple of months.
So the question is, at what age it is best to introduce another cat into the household (if there's any difference)? And, is it better if the addition is an adult cat (shelter, or retired breeder) or another kitten?
We are open to other breeds (I do realize this is a bengal forum, so we're all biased here), as long as they are a good match for a bengal in terms of keeping company (so, persians and alike are probably a poor choice). Me and my spouse have different personalities so a bengal is a good match for her, and I would love a cat who would still be active and affectionate as ours, but more open to spending more than 30 seconds on my lap :-)

Agree with Ekaine in the most part.... However, I do not know of a Tonkinese that does nt love to sit on your lap for a cuddle. They do make great mop anions for bengals dn to their intelligence, athleticism and energy level. That been said, I can only really vouch for UK Tonkinese as the US ones are slightly different.

4 of the cats in my signature are Tonkinese.

I agree on the Tonkinese thing, we have recently got 2 girls to go with our 2 Bengal boys and they are already a gang. Plus, they are complete lovebugs (which isn't always what you want at 2am, being groomed).

I know this is an old thread, but though I'd post an update - we ended up getting a second bengal! (is anybody really surprised? )
No better companion for a bengal than another bengal :)
Really big boy, we left a deposit for him when he was 5 weeks old and 5 weeks later when we came to pick him up he turned out to be the biggest of the litter - now at 3.5 months he is already 5.5 lbs. Purrs virtually non-stop, I hope he keeps this trait when he grows up!

nice job! I swaer my kitten flipped some sort of cuddle switch, she NEVER use to want to cuddle, now. as long as i lay down or in bed she is either sleeping on me or next to me
