I have a 1 year old female bengal. We are deciding whether she requires a companion. She is very sociable and loves people, baby's, dogs but has never met another cat before. Recently she has been displaying signs of pica, eating polystyrene, elastic bands, anything that is around and opening cupboards when she can to raid them. She plays very well with my mams male chihuahua but we are unsure whether introducing a new kitten would go down well.
The breeder we had her from has recently had another litter 2 weeks ago- 3 boys and a girl - and all are available. We think a friend would energise her and get her playing again as she looks a bit down when the dogs aren't here. I would appreciate any input on whether another kitten would be tolerated without her feeling put out and also whether a boy or girl would be better.

The first thing to note is you say that your girl is showing signs of PICA. Has this been diagnosed, or are you thinking it because of her chewing habits? I certainly would not think of introducing another kitten into the mix if she has these issues - PICA can be a long process to deal with and the addition of a new kitten could amplify the condition by introducing new stress factors.

There are a number of threads on here about kitties with PICA and associated issues. Have a good dig through via the search function. You should find some very useful help on there.
