I have recently decided to purchase a Bengal as a pet. I want a brown spotted male that is pretty darn close to breed standard and am willing to pay show prices if needed. I will not breed or show. This is just the look that I want. I have had people offer me their Bengal for rehoming but I don't want to do that. I want to meet the kitten. Make sute that it has a loving personality and that it will fit my home and lifestyle. So here's my problem. I can't find a breeder I'm willing to do business with! I had an appointment set up with one breeder and when I had to reschedule, she got very nasty. So, she's out. I found another breeder a bit farther away from me. She seemed VERY professional. When we got there at eleven in the morning to visit her cattery, she grabbed herself a BEER. By the time we left she had had six. I am not impressed. I dont want to do business with her either now. So the third one I found wants a three hundred dollar non-refundable deposit before she'll even let me come out to see her cattery! PLEASE HELP! I live in NC but am willing to travel to a surrounding state to get a baby if I need to!

Sadly, yes. That is the lady that wanted a three hundred dollar non-refundable deposit before she'd even let me come visit her cattery. I explained to her that I was not going to do that because I had no yet chosen her as my breeder. She has a website but no available kittens to look at and as everybody know, puppy/kitten mills have websites, too. So I want to SEE the cattery before I do business with any breeder. I also explained that what I would like to do is drive out there in October, when her new litter would be ready for placement with new families, see the kittens and cattery and if, while I was there, one called to me - that was available and not being held for someone else, that I would pay In Full - IN CASH - up to $3,000 and take it home that day since I have a medical condition that keeps me from riding long distances very well without brutal pain. She said she had plenty of clients that pay non-refundable deposits sight unseen for her cats and that if I was unagreeable, I should find another breeder. I said I would and asked if she could recommend anyone and she responded 'nope.'

In reference to 'long distances', her cattery is six hours away from me.

I agree, polls. That doesn't smell right to me. So I kept looking. I have had conversations today with a lovely lady who is more than happy to have me come out and is more than happy to allow me to pay In full all at once. :) Going to visit her in September to see her babies :))) my fingers are crossed that I have found a breeder worth investing in!

Have you thought about having a kitten shipped to you? Here in the US, my personal opinion, I would highly recommend pocket leopards or little leopard cats! She has AMAZING cats and has really dedicated herself to the breed! You also will not need 3000 to get a show quality cat! Also the breeder I got Jasper( my snow marble) list NC as a state that he has kittens in! If I am not mistaken they are from north Carolina and recently moved here to TN! It might be an option to contact him and see! He is a great guy and I know for sure our boy was sent to a breeder in NC for about six months so he knows someone there! He also health screens for HCM and PK Def ! Maybe talk to him, his name is Howard and he will have some kittens born in the next couple of weeks! His website is katzmeowbengals.com

Her website is dreamcoats. She is based out of NC. Not much on the website, it hasn't been updated in a while but I snagged the number, took a chance and called her. I know that on the phone, she said she tested and that she would provide copies of all of the tests, results, vaccines, registration and pedigree. She also agreed to sign a contract agreeing not to raise the price of my kitten after I had paid for it which i gather happens a lot in NC. I don't want to have a kitten shipped...idk, it's just real important to me to see the cattery before i buy. :) the lady's name is vicky.
