Hi all!

Recently I have been considering more and more whether to get a companion for Diego. Since he is now just over a year old I must admit I'm a little wary of how it might go so we are still deciding at the moment!

However, I thought I would still use this time to try and search out a good breeder of silver bengals as if we were to get another, that's the type we would really like. Unfortunately Diego's breeder doesn't breed for silver so I am at a bit of a loss!! Diego's breeder was so perfect, we honestly couldn't have asked for better so I am really worried I will struggle to find another breeder of her calibre!

I know a fair few people on here have some gorgeous silver bengals so I am hoping you may be able to provide some recommendations of breeders that carry out all necessary health checks (hcm screening/pk def etc) and produce good quality silvers please?

I have been searching but so far haven't found any that tick all the boxes!! I'm in the uk by the way, located in bristol in the south west but would be willing to travel for the right breeder!

Thank you for your help!!

Tracy Baker @ Patherjedi breeds silvers - she also HCM and Pk-def screens. She is based in Surrey and a really really nice reputable breeder in my opinion

Even living here in the US if I were to get a silver Bengal I would go to silver storm bengals! I have not always been a fan of silvers, mostly because of tarnishing but their cats are STUNNING! They also health screen and seem to have it together! I don't know what your boxes are or if you are willing to travel or have a kitten shipped but I would consider them!

Thank you very much for your suggestions so far, really appreciate your help!

Apologies for seeming vague with my criteria, my main points that i feel are really important are the following:

Need to carry out the PK Def test and regular HCM screening

Kitten not leaving before 13 weeks of course!

I don't want to pay a deposit to go on the waiting list which some do (never understood this!)

I'd preferably like a breeder within regular visiting distance (considering up to 3 hours away) - but as i said, for a perfect breeder i would travel as far as needed really.

Kittens to be brought up inside so they are better adjusted

Would like to have the parents of the kittens on site really so that i can meet them

I think that those are the main criteria that i can think of really, im sure there are probably more that i have forgotten but those are my big things at least!

My boyfriend has also taken a big interest in Melanistic bengals but as far as i know there aren't any breeders that really specialise in them are there? I thought of them more as an anomaly, albeit a beautiful one, rather than something people try to breed for, is that correct? Or does anyone know of a breeder who has them often?

Most important for me is the personality of the kitten, i want them to be confident and playful as i would worry bringing in a timid kitten with a grown bengal, wouldn't be fair on either.

They don't have to be absolutely perfect looking as i don't intend to show, but i do particularly like the darker silvers with the big inky spots!

Thanks again for your help, hope that sheds a little more light on what i'm looking for!

Just to keep you up to date, i have been looking in to both breeders recommended on here so far!

Silverstorm i am just awaiting a reply in regards to HCM screening as i can find screening dates for their males but not for their females so just want to check that both are screened

And Panthera i have contacted in regards to their prices as unfortunately it looks like they may be out of my price range at the moment...will be rather gutted if that's the case as everything else is perfect about them :(

Thank you for your recommendations so far, look forward to a few more to help in my search!

Looks like this is going to be quite a difficult search :(

So far the prices i have been quoted for silver rosetted kittens have all been in the range of £650 - £750 which is a lot more than i was expecting i must admit! I thought silvers might be a little more than browns since there are less breeders with them in the UK but not to that extent.

Does this kind of price seem right to everyone? Bearing in mind i only want a pet quality silver, i am not looking to show. Is this simply the price for silvers that i have to except and start saving for?

Aw Jake and Ben are both gorgeous :) I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your snow bengal, i can only imagine how heartbreaking that was :(

I think the reason i was most surprised at the price is due to the fact that my brown rosetted bengal came from a very respectable breeder who regularly screens her cats for HCM and does PK Def tests and yet he was only £450. From memory i think her highest pet price was only £550 and really that was a show standard cat. So i generally assumed that £450 - £550 would be the rough price bracket i would be paying this time for the same quality of breeder!

In fact quite a few breeders i contacted were asking for £750+ for kittens that didn't even come from HCM screened parents....so i couldn't justify why they could be charging so much more when the breeder i bought my first boy from does all the screening and actually charges less!

One breeder actually wanted £1250 for a bengal as a pet, and again neither parents screened, i was really shocked! I think perhaps silver rosetted bengals are just generally more expensive, at least in the UK since there are less people breeding them..

But either way, i have actually now found myself the most perfect little silver marble boy due to come home at the end of August who also comes from a screened background and the breeder is lovely so i am VERY happy!! Thank you to everyone who has helped me with my search!

He has a really nice dark and rich color! He will be a knock out without a doubt!!! I adore his little face, no wonder you fell in love with him!!! I never really cares for marbles either until I saw one in person! Their markings are really like art, and watching one grow an change is amazing! If I ever get another Bengal it will be a silver marble! My friend got one a short time ago, she paid a huge amount for him(more than I could ever afford) but he is the most beautiful cat! Looks like your baby doesn't have tarnish either, which from my understanding is hard to come by!

Aw thank you both for the kind comments! I have put up some more pictures in the Introductions area now so hopefully that will give you a better idea of what he looks like!

He looks tarnish free at the moment but then he is only 8 weeks so i wouldn't be surprised if some starts creeping in as he gets older, but as i'm not intending to show i'm not too worried :)

I'm wondering whether because both his parents are silver charcoals, it will increase contrast and lessen the chances of tarnishing? But i have absolutely no idea about the genetics of these things so i probably just sound like an idiot haha!
