Is the breeder you are talking to in Missouri? Though I can't imagine she would not tell you about the defective lung as she is very forthright with all her information.

Yes, I suppose the no brainer would be to get the healthy half brother of Leo. And I am mostly excited for this I just am having a little hard time letting go of the other unique little guy who in my mind has been mine for many months now, since the moment of the excited phone call from the breeder late at night announcing his arrival After months of pictures and stories about him, I feel guilty saying no because of a defect, although the breeder has said she would totally understand and refund our deposit.

Tomorrow is the deadline for giving her our answer. She said if we do not take him, there is another family nearby, friends of her family, that have known him since birth and are enamored of him completely and want him if we don't. LOL Your not a crazy cat lady I know how you feel! I was in the same position with the last kitten I was looking at and I had to end up letting him go to the other family! I think honestly that you are going to have to weigh the financial obligations to both of the kittens nad the heartache. There wil be no doubt that with one lung he will probably have less then normal immune system and probably will get colds more often if not worse and when that happens his one lung will be more prone to other infections. If you have the money I would get him if not dont feel guilty about it and get the other one. This is how you will have to look at it, when I was in this position I was going to be able to get a show quality top of the line Bengal for $250 that is $1000 off of what she normally charges for a kitten of his quality because of some things that happened during the purchase of our Bengal now. Even though that was a deal of a life time and I got that same call at 1 in the morning announcing his arrival and all the pictures until her was 6 weeks I found out my husbands hours at work got cut! I could get him but I could provide the best for him so I had to say no! I didnt di it for myself I had to say no for him! So in your case your will have to do the same thing! But about the other kitten, he is in california so no its not the same breeder! Sorry!

Well I can tell you for sure that I did not take in numerous samples. And as his runny poo stopped many weeks ago, I do not have runny poo to take in. I am going to ask my vet the name of the exact test she performed.

After coming to the decision to not get him, I sat in front of my computer to tell his breeder...and I just couldn't. I feel in my heart that he belongs with my family, for better or for worse. The breeder is going to have her vet send the records to my vet, for an additional opinion about what to expect in his future. I may be driving down to get him within the week.

I have responded about the TF, saying that the vet said he was tested a couple of weeks ago and came back negative, though I do not know as yet which test she used. I have a call in to ask. He has not been treated for anything, with anything, since we got him a couple of months ago. There has not been any runny poo also for many weeks, so the sample came from regular stool.

This kitten is not from the same breeder.

It has only been on this thread that you have mentioned having him tested for TF. All other threads you haven't come back to answer. I have just read through all your previous posts in case i had missed one but i can't see one.

You also said in a post about him when you first got him that the vet popped him on antibiotics without testing the poo... You mentioned that, as the runny poo came back, that the antibiotics were just a 'band aid'.

It could be that Leo does not have TF, but, from the sounds of it, he has not been tested for it in a way that will optimise your chances of an accurate result.



My comment about getting another kitten from the same breeder that you got Leo from is because you said they had offered you another kitten because Leo has a heart murmur. So was not related to the Silver boy here.

I can't make you test your boy, i can only advise what is the best thing to do for the health of your existing boy and any new kittens you bring into the house.
