i apologized and said I was wrong about ten times now! I get your line of thought brianj, I do see what you are saying and for some reason I was defensive maybe the lack of sleep I dont know. I sincerely apologize to you personally and to anyone else that I may have offended and I would greatly appreciate if you would accept my apology and I would like to apologize to 7 as well because I was rude and inconsiderate of this being a thread for someone that has a true concern and truly needs help and advice! I am sorry and really embarassed.



Ok back to the topic. I can not believe that she would take 400 for a bengal of that quality , something doesnt sound right I would for sure check it out and visit with him. If you walk away from that with a healty happy kitten you are getting the deal of a lifetime! That is what people sale their UNREGISTERED unscreened bengals for! That would be amaing. Please keep us posted I would love to see this work out in your favor!

Have you talked to the breeder over the phone? i would find that to be more effective as to be able to tell what is really going on! its not going to give them time to come up with answers to suite what they think you want to hear. i would try that instead of waiting to hear from her call her then number is on her website. I was curious to have you found out who the sire and dam is of this kitten. I know I was looking on the website and I have talked to the owner of Amantra bengals and she only lets her kittens go out to breeders that she knows or are close friends you can read that on her website. I noticed that one of the queens is from Amantra so to me that would be a good sign. Talk to the breeder if you have to ask for refences that is what I did before choosing a breeder! i just really hope everything works out for you this kitten is beautiful and deserves a good life and I hope you can be the person to providet that for him!

I didnt see that on Amantra, i think things look good I know Amantra do all the testing in their cats and I would assume that she wouldnt allow one of her kittens to go to an irresponsilbe breeder! I think it would be worth the drive to go see him!!!!

Got a reply back and she said that he is very sweet and doesn't have issues using the litter box. She also said that he is discounted because she does this as a hobby, and because he has a pet quality coat without the fancy rosettes that everyone wants. The rosettes don't bother me one bit, I was actually more blown away at how deep his spots and stripes are. I'm going to go tomorrow and see how it turns out. Thank you all for the help, I now know what to look for. I will update this tomorrow if I end up with him

You are getting the deal of a lifetime, it sounds like. Especially for such a typey boy.

I agree, he is a gorgeous looking boy - He may not be 'show standard' but you are getting him because you want him as your buddy.
I have read all the posts up to now, and one thing that occurred to me was that if this queen only had the one kitten - then perhaps it was her first litter? That may explain the price, because if daddy is the Supreme Grand Champion and Mummy is unproven, then it is a 'trial' kitten, with unknown characteristics - possibly for a new line? - Something I wouldn't mind having a piece of myself if it was over here, looking like that!

I really do hope it all works out for you, and the two of you can be very happy!

I just got home a few hours ago. Chris at Calcatta was really nice and helpful and took amazing care of her animals. The cat is really sweet and friendly and looks better in person than in the photos. He also is small, the picture posted makes him look older and bigger I think. He was really fussy in the beginning during the drive home but I took him out of the carrier and petted him some when I stopped for lunch and then he spent the rest of the 4 hour trip asleep in my lap.

He's not hiding or really scared at home I don't think. He is still exploring every corner of my room and meows for me when he can't see me, he also comes from wherever he is when I tap my leg with my hand and comes bounding up into my lap. I couldn't ask for a friendlier cat, I just hope he sleeps tonight lol. Thank you all for the help. I will post some pictures tomorrow.
