We paid $1000 USD in 2005 for a 4-day old kitten as a pet. Asia turned out to be show quality as she got older; but our breeder, Gene Mill Ducote (she started the breed) stuck with the pet price that she quoted us initially. We had her almost seven years when she coughed up a hairball and aspirated it into her lungs. She died 10 hours later. The vet said it was a freak accident that sometimes can happen and they don't know why. Her death has left a gaping hole in my heart that I think only another Bengal can fill. Gene has since retired so I will have to find another breed. I hope to be as fortunate as I was with Asia. She was an absolutely awesome cat!
