Will a Bengal fit in with my family?

Hi everybody I am looking into getting a cat and love the bengal but I'm not sure whether one will fit in my family or not. There is my partner, me, our daughter of 6 and our daughter of 1. We also have a Labrador. For 4 days out of 7 I'll be at work all day and my partner too from 8-5. The Bengal probably won't get any interaction in the morning but will get around 4 hours at night. The Bengal will be with the dog all day whilst we are at work. That is for 4 days, the other 3 I'll be at home all day so it will get lots if interaction. Would this be enough? Will the Bengal get on with my children and dog? I love the Bengal but do not want to have to rehome because it does not get on with them. Can anybody help please?!

The work routine would not be a problem I don't think, there are many who get left longer than that 5 days a week.

As the dog and child, every bengal is different so no one can guarantee everything will be fine, however many (most?) bengals do get along with dogs exceptionally well in fact a dog may be a better companion than another cat.

The 6 year old should be fine, he may need to taught to respect the bengals boundaries and maybe get a few scratches until that is established (playing not agressive) but the 1 year old should be supervised while in the company of any cat really not just a bengal.

I think it can be a long road, but also can be done, it depends on how dedicated you are in making things work. Bengals are great but can take lots of time to adjust, and thats where things usually go wrong. The Asian Leopard cat in all bengals will come forward at times.

Thank you for all your replys. We have now got a Bengal cross britsh shorthair and she is beautiful. Already gets on brilliantly with the kids and dog and loves to curl up on my chest and go to sleep. Can't wait for all the fun we are going to have

That's great to hear, do you have any photo's? I wish I could have a bengal too but I don't think my other cat's would appreciate it if I bring another cat home, so I have have to wait
