Hi Keeper,
I was told I had to get 2 bengals if I was going to be at work most of the day, so that he or she would have company. They are a lot of work, but they are adorable and fun too!
1. I would recommend a male- I've been told females are harder when introducing a new kitten.
2. I doubt the age difference would prevent them from bonding, but the older cat might get annoyed by the younger cat's constant wanting to play.
3. I don't think there would be more meowing then normal, unless you get another cat who is very vocal. One cat- Diablo, never stops meowing and speaking to us, and Yuki hardly ever makes a peep!
4. There is definitely more effort and more money involved when owning 2- they are constantly fighting and wrestling and running after one another. At the same time, I know they're never really lonely with one another there for company. Also- our kittens never sleep with us because all they do is chase each other around and run all over us and the bed. I wish they would relax at night and cuddle with us, but that doesn't happen.
5. Ive heard all cats LOVE gyms. Id like to get one but my boyfriend thinks they're "an eye sore" and too expensive. Cats like to climb and be high up, so I say get one either way!!
6. Personally, if I could have just one and know that he wasn't lonely and was content on his own, I'd have only 1. But I love having them both around (when they behave!!!)
I'm no expert, but I hope I helped!
-Jaime
