Hello.
I am looking for a little advice for our nearly 2 year old Bengal which we got from a rescue centre around 6 months ago. He is an indoor only cat, aside from regular walks in the back yard on a leash, and our only cat. He has free reign of our hose and garage and is on his own for about 8-10 hours on week days. He has dry food and water available all the time, and we feed him wet food each night.
Lately he has become noisier than usual, although he has always been noisy. There are times when he continuouly meows very loudly for many minutes on end, which usually results him exhausting himself and having to rest. It becomes quite irritating for us too and I can only imagine what our neighbours think! He can meow much louder than any baby crying I have heard, particularly if he has just eaten, when his voice seems to double in volume.
We try and ignore him when he meows as we thought this would discourge him from doing it for attention. It doesn't seem to help. Giving him attention at these times will divert his attention from meowing for a few moments but it doesn't take long for him to resume meowing.
The other thing that we have noticed recently is that we find a sticky yellow substance in drops on the floor and on furniture. I would assume that it is urine but the fact that we generally find drops and not puddles makes me wonder if it might be something else, or a health problem. Sometimes I see a dribble of it on vertical surfaces too... such as the TV screen
He had cat flu when we bought him and has been back to the vets a few times in the last 6 months for reocurrances of this. However, he hasn't shown any of the previous symptoms (sneezing, clearing his throat) in the last couple of months.
I know I'm asking the impossible to know what he may be wanting to tell us with his meowing (maybe he hates us and wants us to suffer) but any suggestions on dealing with this from any experienced Bengal owners?
Also any advice on the mysterious yellow fluid?
Thanks very much.
