Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in getting back. Its been a bit mad trying to sort out two cats the same time my kitchen is being totally redone argh!
Anyway I got Toby two weeks ago, he is very sooky and purrs constantly. He settled into the house with no problems. Chloe, our first bengal was not amused. I had read up on here about tips such as swapping their blankets, swapping the rooms they are in etc so tried that. At first Chloe was hissing at everything that smelled of him, his blanket in particular. Toby on the other hand just wanted to play with her.
After about 2 days they could be in the same room so long as he was sleeping and we were holding him, any form of movement and Chloe was unhappy lol.
Gradually it got better and we started letting them see each other through the door for short periods of time and thats when the fun started, They kept trying to catch one anothers paws under the door but if we tried to introduce them she got aggressive so we split them up. After about 6 days we decided to put him in his carry case for a few mins and let her see him, but so she couldn't hurt him, this seemed to work brilliantly. After that we opened the door a little and she gave him a good sniff lol. Then they just started sniffing each other and walking about the room looking at one another.
It took 7 days but on the seventh day they were running around the house chasing one another and seemed to be having a ball. Chloe now cleans him loads and they are always together. Even when they sleep they tend to go together.
Our first cat Chloe seemed happy before but she seems a lot more content and relaxed, no longer biting us at all
He is great, we are having a bit of a problem where some of his stools are very soft but we are going to try him on some other cat food and see how he gets on. He is putting on weight though and seems really happy, even purring when coming out the litter tray
So it was definitely worth it and only took a week. The funniest thing was on the 7th day when they were playing Chloe went to get a toy that Toby likes to play with and he started growling and she walked away, he does it every time she goes near a certain toy and she has one that she does the same with too lol.
They seem really good friends and really settled, she seems to have calmed down a lot and has become a big mum to him. I will try and post some pics soon of them both
Too add onto his Flat chest syndrome. He seems just the same as any other kitten. You can feel it on his chest but he is growing a lot and running about mad so hopefully it won't cause any problems in the long term
Thanks for all the advice on this forum and hopefully I will be able to help others on introducing two cats!
God...what a long post! lol.
