Here is some history first...My boyfriend and I rescued a male and female breeding pair of Bengals. We had absolutly no intention of breeding. I was working at an animal hospital at the time and I was going to get them spayed/neutered right away.
My boyfriend is the one who picked them up and brought them home. When i came home that day I was sitting with the cats,Romeo and Momma. And as I was petting Momma I noticed her tummy felt differnt, i knew she was pregnant, i took her in and sure enough she was, since my bf doesnt know much about cats, he didnt know she was pregnant when he went to meet them. I immediatly seperated the two cats, since Momma started getting stressed out by Romeo.
I set Momma up in the den with everything she could need, and i did the same for Romeo in another room. At this point Romeo hasnt met any of my other house cats. I wanted to do intros slow. So i got Romeo neutered and after about a month, i started slowly introducing him to my other cats.
Giles my Ocicat and Romeo were fine, normal hissing and growling at first but they became fast friends, we would put Giles in the room with Romeo for company and they seemed to enjoy eachother.
So after a while I started letting Romeo out of the room, to explore and meet the other cats. Everything was fine at first but then i noticed that if Romeo and another cat where in the same room, and if the other cat ran off, Romeo would chase after. And one of these times he attacked Stash, my DSH. Fur flying, pee and poop all over the floor but everyone was ok. So I put Romeo back in his room.
I've tried about 4 differnt times to let Romeo out, I feel bad for him being alone in a room all the time, so i awlays try to give him another chance to be with the other cats.
But Romeo has gone after my DLh Bella and always goes after my scardey cat Fez. Romeo is so strong i dont want to chance him attacking a cat and them getting injured.
I dont know what to do with Romeo.
Romeo is my boyfriends, he loves Romeo, I do too, but i think it would be best for Romeo to go to a home without any other cats. I dont think its fair to make him live the rest of his life in a room all by himself.
My boyfriend doesnt see it this way.He loves Romeo, thinks he is bueatful and doesnt want to find him a home. But at the same time it isnt fair to Romeo, or my other cats, cause if i let Romeo out they are in danger.
My boyfriend thinks the solution is getting rid of our other cats, but i can not do that, they were here first and therefore are my first priorty. My thoughts are if the last addition to the house is the ones cauing problems, then that one goes, not one of the resident cats that isnt causing problems.
Romeo also meows contantly in his room all day and night, i feel soo bad, he deserves better, he is a great friendly cat, just cant be around other cats.
What would you guys do?
What should I do?I have talked to my boyfriend about this many times to find a solution, but it always ends in a fight:(
(I also want to add something that happened one day) During the time when we would let Romeo out to get use to his surrondings, i had found one of my other cats one morning with puncture wounds on his tail, a big patch of fur ripped out with puncture wounds on his side. We dont know how it happend, I found him in the pool room like that, and i never had thought about it being Romeo, until I saw him attack Stash sometime later, so im wondering if Romeo did it to Fez, in Romeos defense though, Fez was an indoor/outsoor cat at the time, so it may not have been Romeo, but Fez is the one cat Romeo always goes after.
