I removed a book from the second bookshelf from the bottom last night, leaving an inch of open space between books. Bailey the librarian arrived after i left and within minutes I heard a series of thuds and went to check. Bailey had removed enough books to move onto the shelf and then pushed more books down to hear them hit the floor. His sister Kayley had come by and started reaching into the bottom shelf over the books and pulled them onto the floor. Both were very happy with their librarian duties and then it was time to chase each other up and down the stairs and make the noise of a buffalo herd stampeding.

My Raiden loves book shelves, too! One is filled with paper for the printer and I find sheets on the floor all the time.

The paper that the both love the most is the wadded paper used to filled the inside of shoes and boots. As kittens, it was the best paper to tear with claws and teeth and even now when one drops the head into the a paper wad, the other knows that is ambush and chase time. However, shredded paper being emptied from the shredder to the re-cycle bag is fair game and REQUIRES claw attacks to topple over the shredder drawer and the re-cycle bag... The printer was declining to print one evening and Kayley slapped it 3 times for making strange sounds and it has functioned purrfectly since! Its good to have an Amazon in the family.

Librarian Bailey was inspecting some empty shelf space on a bookcase this evening with his head and front legs rubbing the back of the bookcase. With his rump overhanging the bottom shelf, Kayley came by, swatted him and took off like a rocket. Bailey looked back to see nothing was behind him, so knew that it was the Rocket Kayley and he started down the hall to find her. Of course, she was found grooming her face acting (and it was acting) innocent.

Why do they love bookcases? Raiden loves to jump up on the shelves, too. I have some with papers on the shelves and he just throws the papers off. Then he will try to fit on a shelf that already has stuff on it. I think he needs his own empty bookcase.

I am glad Oberon has not noticed the bookcases. He loves books... to eat.

My boyfriend had a signed copy of one of Penn Gillette's books. Left it on the bed. Cover shredded and thoroughly chewed.

Gee, Raiden ignores the bookcases in the den that are full of books. His thing is licking plastic bags.

Kayley was on the TV room table "adjusting" a book. She would push it half an inch over the edge of the table and wait for it to fall next to the sleeping Bailey, who was partially under the table. She kept pushing the book and soon it was over the edge and onto Bailey with Kayley straining her neck to watch the book land on him. Of course, she ran to her cat sofa and pretended that she had been there the entire time grooming herself. She was seen by Bailey leaping onto the cat sofa and the chase was on and soon the stairs and upstairs vibrated to the sound of a buffalo stampede.

Oh yes, the pushing of books off tables. Raiden does that to the books on the coffee table. However, there is one large book that he is unable to push, although he keeps trying. LOL They somehow seem so proud of themselves when they fall to the floor.

You got that right, very proud indeed! I know that any iRobot vacuum cleaner would be the target of books falling anytime that it was near bookcases. Kayley would lead the book toppling with Bailey copying her antics.
