So my female Bengal is called Onyx and she’s almost 2 years old, we’ve had her for just over a year and when she came to us she also came with her sister. Prior to this we were told that since their birth they had been primarily kept in one room so when we introduced them to the outdoors they loved it. We did try to train them on leads but this was impossible. Unfortunately after just 4 months Onyx’s sister went missing and hasn’t been seen since. They were both very attached to each other and did literally everything together.

We didn’t want to introduce her to a new cat then as she was very territorial and resorted to moving her toilet onto our furniture if a cat invaded her home. Yet a month ago our neighbour adopted a tabby cat and Onyx took a liking to him and they chased each for hours playfully). Unfortunately not too long ago he passed after being hit on the road and Onyx barely ate for days afterwards, our neighbour also mentioned that she would go and wait by their door for him after his death.

This makes us think that maybe she’s ready for a companion as she’s also no longer sleeping on my bed, something she’s done every single night and for her nap since coming to our home. Possibly showing that she needs another type of company instead of us 24/7. So does anyone think she’s ready for a new cat? And if so should it be a Bengal or a normal cat?

Your cat could not be sleeping on the bed because the weather is warmer, this is typical and they turn cuddly again in winter.

Your neighborhood doesn't sound very cat safe, seems likely a new cat will meet the same fate. If you wen't with another bengal, that would be an expensive loss. They are also targets of theft.

Keep in mind she may have liked that tabby but may dislike the next cat and resort to using your furniture as a toilet again. Cats pick and choose friends.

Not sure what issue you had with a harness but I use them on all my Bengals without issue, some take longer to get used to it than others.

Adding a second cat can go well or can go horribly bad. Unless you have the patience of a saint and are prepared to deal with all the challenges, you might want to rethink this. I just wish the kitties could talk and let us know what they actually are thinking and wanting.

I would trust your instincts. And look for the right friend.

Scent is big in introductions. You can try smearing both cats with strong smelling cat food. I used to use cologne, but am not sure how safe that is. A light misting once is probably OK.

Also sympathy works. Hold the new cat until it meows and the other cat often comes to rescue it.

Are you still hoping that her sister will come back? How come you lost her sister? Didn't you attached something on her collar like a contact info or a tracker?
