We have had our rescue Bengal for over a year. We are noticing that he rarely drinks form his bowl.
Rather meows like crazy until we either fill the bathroom sink with water for him of a tall glass or jug that we place in the kitchen sink. He also likes drinking from the tap.
I was wondering if this is a 'Bengal' behaviour? How do other Bengal owners get their cats to drink? Is anyone using a water fountain? Is it the hassle with the batteries, filter, cleaning.....?

My girl Pearl used to like drinking from the tap until I bought them a water fountain, it plugs into the mains and I only change the filter around every 6 weeks, I wash it out every other day and both cats drink from it.

Bengals are known for wanting to drink out of a water tap. My bengal doesn't drink a lot of water as he gets wet food -- I should say "didn't drink a lot of water." He has been put on diet of dry food and now is drinking all the time. I brought out a fountain I had bought years ago. He will use it, but he really loves to drink out of the watering can on our deck. As soon as we go outside for our walks, he goes over there to drink. I also have a bowl of water for him in our bathroom. Whatever works for you. Fountains do require cleaning and changing of the filter. But, it beats having to turn the water on or fill up something for the kitty. Our outdoor kitty jumps up on the bird baths and drinks from them. even though there is a bowl of water on his feeding station.

I purchased a pet water fountain where the water shoots straight up and then pools into a big pond. Now I have damp cats hopping up in my lap because they like to play in it.

I use the Pioneer Raindrop stainless steel fountain. Raiden drinks from the bubbly part.

I got mine a drinkwell ceramic fountain, that they like. If you do get a fountain, make sure to avoid plastic ones. Plastic ones are impossible to clean. For ceramic ones, cleaning couldn't be easier... just toss it in the dishwasher...done.

Brian, I figured you wouldn't be washing dishes by hand! ROFLMBO. I have a dishwasher and don't use it!

Now, what do your babies do while the fountain is being washed and they want water?
