Hi guys, I have two male bengal brothers who've just turned a year old. I've booked to go abroad for 10 days and in the past my brother has house sat for me and looked after the cats while I've been away but he's had to pull out this time and I'm really anxious about leaving them. My mother in law has offered to pop in every 3 days (it's a long way for her to come) and they have an automated pet feeder and water fountain and access to outside but my cats are huge attention seekers, constantly meowing and going crazy, bouncing off the walls etc. My partner and I both work from home full time so they are used to having someone in the house with them 24/7 and I'm worried that they'll feel abandoned. I'm concerned that someone popping in on them every few days won't give them the attention they need. I'm so worried, I'm thinking of cancelling my holiday. What should I do?

Catsitters or cat hotel... They will need some sort of daily interaction

I feel for you. As Inky says, you really need catsitters, friend, neighbours, colleagues dropping in on the boys every day.
You won't enjoy your holiday if you don't because you'll be worried sick about them the whole time.
I really hate to say it, because everyone deserves a vacation, but I don't think I could leave my boys if I didn't know someone was looking out for them every day - anything could happen.

Welcome to our forum! One should NEVER leave their kitty alone for more than a few hours. Three days is just way too long. Anything could happen -- your cat could simply get sick or injure itself from a jump. Automatic feeders can go bonkers and not dispense food and your cats will go hungry. Nope!!! Either find someone to house sit them while you are gone or at least visit twice a day to check on them or board them! You are going to enjoy your holiday much, much more if you are not worrying to death about them.

You may want to check with your breeder to see if they will board your kitties.

I have two different professional catsitters that I use. So one or the other is always free. Also where I live there are some really really good boarding options (which I used when Gaga needed to get pills twice a day). They are places where you basically rent a private room, complete with cat trees, toys, window with birdfeeders, and some even have outdoor cat runs. People pop in and check on the cats, play with them, and feed them whatever you specified. It really is a pretty good option.
