Hello all,

I messaged a month or so ago about some serious problem we are having with our male Bengal. He is just less than three-years-old now. The problem we are having is that he seeing everywhere in the house - sofas, beds, carpets, kitchen work surfaces, tables etc. We are at our wits end. To sum up, here is the situation:

- Problem started about 12 months ago. No changes to the environment at all. Been living in our house nearly two years after living in a flat before.
- Had him from 10 weeks out from approved breeder. He was neutered at appropriate age.
- Problem wasn't apparent before and appeared from nowhere
- He broke his leg at eight months, but healed well.
- Clean litter boxes regularly, but he doesn't seem to use them now, part form number twos...
- We have a younger cat, one-year-old domestic short hair, they get on very well. Problem started before the new cat arrived.
- Used to be a house cat but now we let him out in an effort to ease the situation of stress - he used to miaow a lot when not allowed out.
- Cleaned all soiled areas properly, but to no avail.
-Tried Feliway, no luck at all.

Is there anything else you think we could try, or does this sound like an infection that needs checking out? Wanted to ask before we have to incur any expensive vets bills. My only other thought is that the neuter op wasn't a full success? But that is just a guess.

We rally are desperate, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is he crying when he's peeing? Is he spraying/marking a small amount of pee or full on peeing (huge puddle) I would get him checked for a UTI also you could try some Zylkene for the stress as it works pretty well and I would think if he does have a UTI it would be stressing him out.

Thanks for the reply Seraph - no crying when peeing, usually large amounts of wee unless we catch him - for example, last night, it was all on the one side of the sofa. Booked in for the bets this evening for more investigation...

Would definitely get him checked at the vets. He could very well have a UTI. I remember your first post and the discussion that he may link litter boxes to pain with his broken leg? Have you seen him peeing. If it's everywhere - could there be a possibility of incontinence? Just a thought and probably not the case at all in such a young cat, but does he actively squat and pee or does it just come out like an old incontinent cat? There is a cat at the rescue centre I volunteer at who lives there permanently. He has damaged nerves in his legs and rear end and is totally incontinent so there are trails of pee rather than puddles. Once physical is done by the vet then I would definitely try the zylkene to chill him out. I would also change the litter trays and the litter type and their position. You need to build a new relationship with the trays if it could be a possible association with broken leg pain and trying to use trays in the past. Most cats I have had only peed about once or twice a day. If he is peeing lots then that could be a red flag for a UTI, kidney issue etc.

I'm so sorry you're having this issue. First of all, please have the vet check him out completely. There could be something more than a UTI or crystals in the urine. Something maybe with the urethra or maybe a distended bladder!

However ..... you've told us a lot of things you've done. Since a cat uses a litter box usually, let's start there. Boxes are clean -- but how many boxes, what type of litter, what type of box? It's possible he wants an open box or closed box? Located in a private area? Easy access? Have you tried Cat Attract?

You would think going outside would help a lot. Mine does a lot of peeing and marking on our walks, which leads me to another question. Is he peeing or marking? Even neutered cats will continue to mark. I don't believe this has anything to do with a neuter. He could very well indeed be incontinent. So make sure the vet checks for other things like kidney disease, diabetes.

You say there have been no changes in your household in two years. What about outside of the house? A new cat move in? Other wildlife that comes around that your kitty can sense and smell or see? There can be a LOT of different things going on that you're just not aware of! So, you need to really try to sniff out what the situation is!

A year is a long time to put up with this and to see no change in behavior. I'm sure there a ton of videos on YouTube or articles that you can read on this and try what has worked for other cat owners. But first, unless he has been to the vet recently, I would be taking him in for a thorough checkup to rule out anything medical issues.
