I've read a lot of the threads about bengals peeing outside of the litter boxes, maybe I've missed something but I can't find any answers to why mine is doing it. She is 1 year old now. I've had her since she was a kitten, I hadn't noticed the peeing in random places before. I moved recently, this caused poor sassy to go wild. She started peeing everywhere, I knew it was with the stress of moving so i bought a Felliway plug in. We had her tested, she had a UTI and i have also had her liver, kidneys tested, everything was OK after the treated for the UTI. She started spraying in the house so i got her spayed. Everything seems to have worked. I bought some urine destroying products and there was only one accident in a few weeks. I also changed her litter a few times to find out the one she liked. I also have two trays for her, one hooded. These 4 months ( in a different home ) have been the worst. She's started peeing on the couch again, she now pees on the kitchen counters and clothing that has either come out the washing machine or is ready to wash. I'm living at my parents so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place about the peeing issue. She's kept in our kitchen/living room area. I have 3 dogs, I don't think they bother her, she is quite happy to cuddle up and sleep with them on the floor and couch. She has chosen to sleep on the fridge in a night, so she has her own space. I tried the tin foil trick, she loved peeing on that. Nothing seems to work with her. Am I missing something? Rehiring isn't an option for me but if the problem isn't solved, I don't think she is welcome for much longer at my parents. Oh and last thing, she's an indoor cat but I harness her up and let her run around the back garden (supervised).

So lets start with the most common questions

Is she also using the litter boxes? Both of them or just one? For pee and poo or just poo?

Are the litter boxes big enough? Bengals need lots of room, we mostly use the plastic storage totes because the litter boxes they sell are not large enough

How often are the boxes cleaned?

Are they easily accessible and can she get to them without being around the dogs? Sometimes it's a privacy issue, or if the dogs get into the boxes she may be put off from using them

Stress is usually the culprit once you rule out anything medical. If I were a cat, I'd probably be extremely stressed out by three larger dogs in the house! Moving would absolutely cause a stressful situation. It sounds to me as if she has not gotten comfortable in her new home. There is something there -- did the previous owners have a cat??? That smell can linger. You can't smell it, but your kitty can. Getting a cat spayed does not eliminate the spraying completely. My friend has a spayed female who continues to spray around the house.

Where are the litter boxes located? Away from where the dogs can get to them? Does she poop in the litter boxes and just pee outside the box? Make sure the UTI is completely gone for one thing ..... and add more litter boxes if you have to. I know it's a hassle, but it needs to be convenient for her to use a litter box and not use the furniture.

Make sure she has a tall cat tree and is able to escape the ground. Think about possibly giving her outdoor access with a catio or cat enclosure. This expands their world a little. Just the smallest little thing can improve hr life to the point where she feels safe and does not have the need to pee where she isn't supposed to. Good luck.

Thanks for your replies! Yes she uses both regular. I've noticed she's fussy about her litter so I clean it out every 2-3 days. I used the crystal stuff, I normally spoon out the very yellow areas. Yes one litter box is very big but she prefers the smaller hooded one. The dogs don't bother her when she's uses the boxes and they don't go in or around it. My dogs are small chihuahuas. Sassy is bigger than them so I don't think she's stressed because of them. She lays and regularly grooms one of them so I don't think that's the problem. The couch is brand new. No other animals have been on it. It's my mams house so there's no previous owners or semis. She's been at this new house for 4 month now and there was no accidents at all last month, till this week. I have noticed when I left her today, when she seen me come in, she started clawing at the window and crying to be out. She did this before she was sprayed ( and used to pee up the windows and doors) she likes to get on top of the kitchen units and windowsills so I've just ordered a tall cat tree to put next the couch. I've also moved one litter tray to where she pees on the couch but on the floor next to. Would you suggest a Feliway spray to spray the peed area (after cleaned)

This is a terrible problem that we also experienced with one of our girls. We had Chemdry come in (if you live in the U.S. and had them completely douse our couch with their pet odor remover. We finally bought scat mats to keep our girl off the one couch entirely - worked like a charm. Of course this means you have plastic mats on the couch for a while, but it is far preferable to continued peeing.

My Raiden marks in the house occasionally, and I use the Feliway spray on the area after cleaning. I also have the plug-in diffusers! Always have them on hand in case I need them. Happy to hear the doggies are tiny dogs! Hopefully, the situation will get better for you. A cat tree should definitely help and any extra litter boxes as well.

When you say you clean the litter box every 2-3 days, do you mean cleaning it completely and putting in fresh litter or just cleaning away bits and pieces? It may of course depend on the type of litter and I'm not an expert here but I clean the litter trays once a day and if it's hot then twice, and change all litter completely every 6 or 7 days. My kitties aren't fussy about eating or anything else but they wouldn't be happy with a litter tray more than a day ripe. And there's two of them plus me in quite a big house so there's plenty of space and their trays aren't small

I HATE completely changing out the litter in the litter box! I clean Raiden's waste as soon as I spot it in there or if I hear him using it, I'm right there waiting. He has two litter boxes, so he does alternate. One is outside in his enclosure and I check that once a day. I truly put off the entire changing as long as I can! It is a chore I wish Raiden could do.
