Hello my Girl gave birth 6 days ago everything is going well BUT twice now she has gone upstairs to poop on my landing, shes never done this before can anyone tell me why? is she trying to tell me something? or does she simply not want to poop in the same room as kittens?

the room she is in is her safe room shes always had that room its a large room and the box isn't close to the nest she will pee in the box but not poop ll of a sudden?

I really don't know the true answer to your question, but I'm thinking it may be due to the odor and the fact that feces can have bacteria and other dangers to kittens who will eventually make it over to that litter box. Mothers are fastidious when it comes to keeping the area around their kittens clean. I would make sure she has another litter box. After all, the kittens need to be litter trained and extra boxes will be necessary. Put the new box out of the area of the safe room and see if she will use it.

I've put a few other boxes outside the nesting room and it's solved our pooping mess lol thanks again

Well seems i spoke too soon hmmm,
she did use the box for a few days but yday she pooped on my windowsill
im not sure whats going on

It seems she wants to find a new fresh spot to use! Mine is having a problem using his usual litter box and is using a different one that he never used before. Crazy cats!!! At least it's poop and not pee.
