Now Grace is making those sounds at night. She is currently sleeping in one of the cat trees by my bed, about 8 feet away from my head and I can hear her making sounds with her mouth closed, just like Blondie does. I imitate her sound and she makes another totally different sound, very soft and faint. We go back and forth for a long time until one or both of us fall asleep. She is doing this almost nightly now. Blondie has been sleeping at my feet and I swear one night all three of us were having a conversation imitating each other. Can you relate, or am I totally off in my own catasphere?

Both of mine talk to us, Magic makes a kind of snorting grunting noise when we cuddle and tickle him.

Pearl actually talks, when I ask her a question like "are you alright" she answers with what sounds like a NO.

Whatever I ask Pearl I get an answer.

Seriously,

I talk to mine all the time, and often talk back to them with their own sounds.

"Moaw"

"What's Maow inky ?"

"Maow!"

"Yes, we've already decided it is Maow, but what is it that is actually Maow ?"

"Maow!!"

*thinks - why do I have to own the human who is slow on the uptake ? *

Babbage makes this "hoo" sound when he is moderately not happy with something - a sound I've never heard from any other cat.

I get complained at for going to the toilet on my own as well.

Ada is quite concerned for my welfare when I am in there ( or more likely thinks that she *must* be missing out on something ).

Meaaaaaaaoooooooooow.

I think the people on this forum might relate to this...earlier this week I had some painful dental work done. I came home exhausted from the experience and went to bed early. Grace and Blondie came to bed with me and they laid down on either side of me so I could pet them. I woke up at 1:00am and my jaw was throbbing and I had a bad headache. Too tired to get up I stayed in bed and moaned and whimpered in pain. Then Grace and Blondie started imitating me! Pretty soon the three of us were moaning in unison! After a while I fell back asleep and woke up later than usual. Both cats were still along side me! That never happens. I felt so much better in the morning after their tlc. You can’t get solidarity like that from a human.

My first Bengal that was smart even by Bengal standards had words for everything that you knew what she was talking about.

All different types of meows.... Give me food... Open the door... Go away... Pet me... I saw a bug.... You left the door open... I am getting into trouble.... So and so is annoying me.. .. I'm going to try and escape outside... Let's play... I am going to eat this plant..... Ect

You didn't even have to look at her to know what she was up to or thinking. Ofc all this communication would always rat her out when she was being naughty.
