I've been presented with the opportunity to move out and live on my own in a 500 square feet apartment on the first floor. This is an old brick building.
There is an apartment above and one below me.

The crucial questions is now: Will the cat be so noisy that I would get complaints? (Complaints will lead to revoking my permission to have a cat)
I can't help but worry, since I have completely fallen for the Bengal and want to prepare myself as much as I can. I personally like to hear cat meows. But I realise that most people would probably get pretty pissed if they could hear the cat.
Oh, and I know the ones above me have two cats, but the previous tennant says he never heard them at all.

Does anyone have experience with this?
(Anyone who lives with a Bengal in a similar situation)

You don't have your kitty yet, so you won't know how loud your kitty will be! Many bengals are fairly quiet Mine is except when he wants to go for his daily walks, wants food, or wants playtime. When we have the windows open, I know the neighbors (if they have their windows open) can hear him howling and may think he's dying!!! A bengal cries for a reason. Food, attention, etc. Occasionally, Raiden will just walk and cry, but not that loud. Not his howling cry!

Get your bengal, move into your new home, and see what happens. I truly think you are overthinking everything -- once you get your bengal, your thoughts will be on the kitty and not so much on other things.

Thanks Sherry :)
I do tend to overthink pretty much everything - the more important, the more I think, haha XD
Hmm, I suppose I should just try to "chill"
I'm just so insanely excited, and I got incredibly worried I'd be doing something wrong.
It's kinda cool though, the ceiling is high so there's going to be a lot of catifucation done XD

When you have all the time in the world to worry, it gets pretty hard to stop again

Mine seem to get louder as they grow up (they're 7 months old now) but still waaay on the quiet side. Where I live it's really quiet 90% of the time, especially at night, and you can hardly hear them unless they really, really want something and even then it's not exagerrated.

Faust has recently decided to start talking. A lot. He used to chat with me on a regular basis, but at a typical cat volume. All of a sudden, he's reached epic volumes at night for attention when we climb into bed to wind down. He is quiet when we are ready to sleep, but yowls while walking around the condo and then to get my hubs to pet him. It's hilarious. The most noise that anyone ever hear when we were in an apartment in Louisiana was Max knocking everything on the floor and jumping off counters or the top of the fridge onto hardwood floors.

Yea, I do think it's appropriate to factor in the possible cat noise factor, because the stakes are pretty high if he turns out to be loud. Getting booted out of your apartment wouldn't be fun. And if he turns out to be quiet, nothing is lost.

All three of mine are talkers. Serafina is by far the loudest, and she'll caterwall away when she is bored and I'm around doing something, not paying attention to her. Gaga makes a ton of noise when she is unhappy (like when I've boarded her in various places), and at home she'll often grab a toy ball and start caterwalling to tell me that she has a ball, is coming to me, and wants me to play fetch with her. She's giving me fair notice, which is very considerate of her  Other than in those situations though, I'd characterize her has a pretty quiet cat. Neytiri actually has a pretty loud voice too, and seems to most often uses it when she is playing with some sort of solo toy, like a small toy mouse and is batting it around. I guess she just likes "monologing" about her prowess and adventures.

When I last lived in an apartment, I had two moggies that were both very quiet. They would talk with soft voices sometimes, or have small meows when they were expecting dinner and such, but very quiet for the most part. The funny thing though was that the people below me once told me that sometimes at night it would sound like a herd of elephants up there to them. I guess 10lb cats jumping down from cat trees or perches or whatnot, and thudding onto the floor and such does make some noise when all else is quiet. Anyway, they were nice people and never made anything of it.

Better safe than sorry.

Bengals ARE vocal, however, you can usually calm them down with attention, treats, toys. I do not want to give you the impression a bengal cries nonstop. They do not! They meow like every other cat, just louder. Your bengal may be just fine and you never know -- the insulation between you and the other tenants may be pretty good.

Mine meows (chats to us) through out the day, but fairly quietly. She gets loud mostly when she is locked out of the bedroom (which is out of bounds) and in the mornings when she wants attention. She often starts at 5 or 6 am and I do worry about the neighbours sometimes. We have neighbours on both sides and downstairs, but no one has said anything yet. We have had her since December. So they either can't hear it or they are just ignoring it. She kind of knows that meowing doesn't get her anywhere so she is quieting down (she used to be very loud at bed time, but she is quiet as a mouse now when lights go out.. Well until about 5-6). So there is hope that she'll just accept that meowing with us is fine, but when the bedroom door is shut and we are not awake yet, she is just gonno have to be patient (like she is at night time).

Mine tend to be more chatty than loud - as said each bengal will be different.

I live in an apartment - 70's concrete built with double glazing. The only time that there has been any sort of an issue was when Babbage got out of the door and then freaked out - he miaowed so loud that a neighbour came out of their apartment to see what on earth was going on.
