I had something strange happen tonight. I looked over at the dining room and saw liquid on the floor. I figured one of the cats (Grace) peed on the floor. When I got paper towels I saw a LOT of water, all through the house! How could she have peed all over like that? The liquid didn't smell like pee though. I kept looking up to see if the water was coming from the attic but there was nothing on the ceiling. I thought maybe she got a hold of a water bottle but there was no sign of one. I was drying the floor in my bedroom and Grace came running out of my closet looking scared, guilty and soaking WET! She must have jumped in the pool. She wouldn't let me wrap her in a towel so I laid it on the floor and she went right on it an began to wash herself. Blondie is sitting next to her grooming in solidarity. I looked outside and it is all wet by the pool steps. She did this a year ago, also in February. That pool water has got to be freezing.

Aww sounds like she either was too close and lost her footing or she was chasing something and miscalculated how close she was to the pool. Poor kid, I bet that was scary.

I guess, but I find it suspicious that the two times she has done this have both been the coldest days of the year. Does she think the water is warm like the bath tub? Is it an annual polar bear club thing? She stays out in the cold for hours. She seems to love it. Blondie comes back in after 5 minutes and follows me around. When I ran my hand down Grace's back she was dripping wet. She dried off in about 15 minutes sitting on the towel washing herself. Her fur is soft as silk and sparkles now. The temperature was 69 in the house so she slept on me all night. She doesn't do that when the house is its usual 79 degrees.

Oh gosh, Jill. Thankfully, she was able to get out. Many kitties do not know how to get to the steps to get out of a pool if they fall in. What is it with Grace lately? Has some other creature moved into the area near you?

Okay, this might explain the late night patio parties and Grace's behavior. There is an otter frolicking on the banks of the lake behind my house. I didn't know otters lived down here. It is about 4 feet long and has been jumping in and out of the water eating fish all morning. Maybe that's why grace jumped in the pool?? Maybe she saw the otter doing it.

Well, since Grace is similar to a beaver, isn't the otter part of that family too? I think she was some similar animal in her previous life. LOL. It is amazing how when you really start trying to think things like this out, you come up with something that could be the culprit. Those otters are sure cute, though.

It is adorable! Last night it was cool and windy. I went outside to see what the cats were up to and I saw a small animal in the dark run by on the other side of the enclosure. I don't know if it was a cat or a possum, but it took off when I went outside. I can see why it's so fascinating out there for them.

Yeah that is pretty funny. Those possums can be mean. I'm sure an otter can be mean too. It's sort of interesting to have all these wild creatures about in the heart of a busy city. Lots of unusual birds and ducks around this time of year (actual snow birds).

I don't see anything funny about two animals fighting -- or at least a cat beating up a possum. We have one that ones by to eat the dry food at night -- the black and white cat ignores it and the possum is cute as can be. I chase away the raccoons, but the possum, I don't mind. We have skunks, deer, foxes, coyotes raccoons, rabbits in the woods behind our house. The only animal I haven't seen in our yard is a coyote, but they are further back and there are fences in between then and us.

My mother had a pet possum when she as a little girl! That was a rough video to watch for the 24 seconds! Poor possum.

A possum tore my friend's cat up in a fight. I think that is one brave kitty to stand up to one.

I'm not a fan of any type of aggression between two animals -- even if it is one-sided! I'm siding with the possum here!!! LOL
