This might be the wrong way to think about things, but maybe she just really likes that spot? I would think that if she wasn't doing well, she would either be in a more hidden spot, or letting you know in some way that's she's unhappy.

I find that over time they move their favorite sleeping places. At least ours have. Pixel sleeps wherever Macro isn't.

This is true. Cats change their sleeping spots. Raiden loves his cat tree platforms, his heated bed, our bed mainly. But, we never know where we might find him asleep.

I know the apprehension of worrying about every little nuance in their behavior. But like humans, if something is really troubling the cat, they will usually let you know in one way or another. It might not be an english sentence, but you can definitely tell by other behavioral quirks.

I used to obsess about their wear-abouts and tried to intervene every time something felt wrong. That ended up doing more damage than good, so I started ignoring them a little more, and they started gaining their own confidence moving about the house without having to worry about this massive looming body following their every move.

My kitties sleep wherever they feel like on any given moment, together or separate. Upstairs in my bed or in the other room, downstairs on the big tree or under the table or in their nominal bed... They couldn't care less so I don't either. As long as they're happy...

I guess his concern is that the kitty isn't happy. But i believe that most living things will let their caretakers know when something is awry.

Little update: she was obviously by the door today, but the floor wasn't warm, so I doubt she slept there. She seems like a really happy kitten when she has people around and I suppose if she was feeling stressed or anxious she would let us know somehow when we're at home. As soon as we walk through the door she is purring and rubbing herself against legs and throwing herself on her side, so it looks like she is happy, content and well adjusted. She is playing and not hiding and she knows she owns the place, hehe.. And maybe you're right, maybe she does just like the spot sometimes, I've actually noticed today that she was playing with her kickaroo in the hallway by the front door as well, maybe there is just something about that particular place. So Im going to let her sleep by the door if she wants and trust her to let me know on her own way if she is not feeling the way she is supposed to. I've got faith that she will, this kitten can be very vocal if she doesn't like something. Usually when you stop playing with her when she is not quite ready, she will literally tell you (MEOW!!!)
