This morning my other half woke me at 6 to tell me about the awful events that happened last night in Paris. He then got up and went to feed the boys as they were both outside the door.

They came back up and Fitch was sitting on the bed and I was clapping him then he peed on the bed (and me).

First time he's peed anywhere other than his box.

I've then got up, checked their trays. Both empty.

He's 4 months old, is this a sign he needs neutered earlier than 6 months?

I would say that is just an accident, he's young and was probably excited, suddenly needed to pee but unfortunately can't hold it yet.

My two were neutered before we got them at four months, and we had a couple of accidents too. Hendrix was on our bed, on some of Jon's clothes, we made a fuss of him and he wet himself. Not sure who was more surprised, him or us! Fortunately it was on clothes which I threw straight in the wash.

Now they are older they can go 12 hours without using their trays, I get them in every night about 7pm, and the trays are unused when I get up next day now.

Just clear it up, try to make sure no scent is left, and keep an eye on things, but it sounds like it was just an accident from being excited.

Yeah I was half asleep and didn't expect it.

They certainly keep us busy.

He jumped back up after and tried to paw at the bed like He was trying to cover it like he would if it was in the tray.

His cute wee face I can't even be mad at him.

Bless him! No point being mad at him anyway, he was probably a bit upset about it, they prefer to use their trays as they are very clean animals.

If he does have further issues I would take him to the vet to make sure he doesn't have a urinary tract infection so just keep an eye on him.

Bengals don't give you a moments rest! I had jagger shouting his head off outside the bedroom door at 5.30am today, they just have no respect for the weekend

Children have accidents; puppies have accidents, kittens have accidents. It's really annoying. Clean everything completely and hopefully this will not happen again. You said you were clapping. Wonder if that got him over excited.

Tomcats often mature before 6 months of age. If he starts mature behaviors, such as spraying, before he is neutered it might be difficult to get him to stop. Is there a particular reason you are waiting that long to neuter him?

I agree, once a tomcat reaches sexual maturity, it can be a totally different kitty! I'd definitely have it done between 4 and 5 months. Happy to hear, at least, that this was a one-time accident.

We've now booked both kittens to go in to be neutered in a fortnights time.

I'm sure I saw my brown boy Fitch try humping his poor brother Merlin.

Poor Merlin! Best to get it out of the way, the sooner the better in my opinion. My boys were done very young by the breeder (their dad was a champion and she didn't want anyone else breeding from them from what I could gather) so it wasn't something we had to worry about sorting. Possibly because of that they have never sprayed, in fact I don't think they know how to! And as far as I know they haven't tried to hump each other either

Since it can take a while after the neutering for all the testosterone to leave the body, it's best you have it done ASAP. Male kitties bounce back really quickly!

They've got a week left until they go to the vet. Luckily my other half is off work and taking them in that day. I'm hoping they'll only get in a huff with him that way. ill be on hand with the treats when they come home.

BOTH cats are going in at the same time! Well, at least it will be done and over with and they can start to recuperate. They may be groggy from the anesthesia. They should not be climbing cat trees and they are supposed to stay calm for a while. Tell that to a bengal!!! LOL
