Hello, I'm new to this forum, I have a brown spotted 3 year old bengal boy, he has the most wonderful temperament I could ask for, we get kitty kisses all the time, my problem is he gets bored really easily, I have loads of toys for him and me to play with, a huge cat tree, interactive toys you name it i seem to have it, he is like a toddler with a 2 minute attention span, any suggestions please

Welcome to the forum! You hit the nail on the head. Bengals are perpetual two and three year olds. They have a very short attention span. They thrive on attention and interaction. They cannot amuse themselves for very long. Is it boredom? Who really knows! Some get a second cat -- but that can either turn out well (most do) and very badly (one is rehomed). I'm retired so I'm home with my 8-year old bengal. He walks around a lot crying as if he is bored. I play with him but that short attention span hits and we are finished in just a few minutes. You might try to see if you can walk your kitty with a harness and leash. Just know that the cat must be comfortable wearing the harness before you actually get them outside! Raiden gets two walks a day and loves being outdoors. It helps with wearing him out as he takes a nap once we return.

I am also at home all day with magic, we play lots of games, I try to think up new toys and games all the time, I had thought about walking him as I did my previous bengal frosty, only problem being when I had frosty he wanted to go out all the time and would constantly cry at the door no matter what the weather, whereas now I have a medical condition which is OK on a good day, but on a bad day I may not be able to take magic out, so I think what he hasn't had he won't miss

I could never keep one entertained. My two constantly play and snuggle together. They both follow me around and interact, but they are really close friends. If one is in the laundry room, the other lays in front of the door waiting for me to let her sister back in. They look out for each other and are happiest when the three of us are together.

It is true that once you start taking a cat outside, they want that all the time. Raiden would much rather have 15 walks a day. He's super happy when he's outside. But, I limit him to two a day and we'll stay out for an hour if he wants to (each time). The walks are shorter if it's raining or if it's particularly chilly out. He was an outdoor cat the first 6 years of his life and I decided he could not roam free once I took possession of him. He would not stand for being an all-indoor cat, so I've made this compromise for him ... along with a huge cat enclosure on our deck. And he still walks around bored!

Raiden actually does settle down once we come back in from our walks -- but ... he's up around 1:30 p.m. and starts crying to go outside. I usually take him out around 3 p.m. or else he's wanting another walk before dark. He's gotten a lot better and is not quite as vocal as he was in the past ... but when he's ready for his walk, he wants his walk NOW! He's quite impatient!

I wish I had got two together, he may not have been so needy, but after having me to himself for 3 years he's such a mummies boy I think he wouldn't like it if I brought in another

Most male bengals are highly territorial. It seems so much easier if you get two together that are siblings. After that, the cat settles in and doesn't seem to want to accept change very well. I have an 8-year old bengal and I know that another cat would disrupt his entire life. He growls at every cat we see on our daily walks and if one gets too close, will attack it.

We have a cat that visits from down the road, as soon as magic sees him he lunges at the patio doors at him

Magic is protecting his territory and doesn't want another cat in it! Since I'm feeding a neighbor's cat at my house, this is a huge problem when Raiden and I go out for our daily walks. The other kitty is usually around and Raiden runs toward him. This morning they were on opposite sides of the backdoor and when I opened it, they touched noses. They've done that before without any problems, but Raiden still does not like this cat and this other cat is so sweet, he just keeps his distance from Raiden. There's no hissing or aggression, but Raiden has jumped on his back a couple of times with no injury.

If he is getting bored with his toys easily I would take some toys and hide them for a week or so, when you take those toys back out take the other toys and hide those. So you're rotating his toys out every few weeks to make him interested in his "new" toys.

I just think bengals, like young children, have a very short attention span. They can concentrate on one thing for a minute and then go onto another. Raiden's play sessions are short because he tends to walk away after a few minutes and go onto something else. He appears bored! I don't know if he is or not. He will walk around the house just looking around for something to get into. Getting another cat would not solve this problem.

There is that, but they can also be pretty focused and not give up. No matter how many times I pick something up that Blondie has pushed off a counter, she will keep knocking it off! This is particularly frustrating when she pushes my container of daily vitamins to the floor. I retrieve them thinking it was an accident on her part and she flings them off the counter again! After the third time I give up thinking she will do the right thing. She has the best ability to turn everything into a game.
