Good Book on Cat Behavior?

Hello all,

I am new to these forums! We don't have her yet, but my husband and I recently committed to adopting a female Bengal kitten. We are both excited, of course! I have owned quite a few cats throughout my life, but my husband is new to them. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book on cat behavior for him (and me) to check out? I'm sure it could benefit us both, I have been petless for the past few years and I am sure there is new research and insight into cat behavior that we didn't have even just a few years ago.

Any recommendations are welcome! Books are great, but websites or any other resource for learning would be excellent as well. Thank you all.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your upcoming arrival. First you need to throw out everything you know about cats because bengals are not like your usual kitty cat. That being said, there are books on Amazon that deal with strictly bengals. This forum is a great source of information on bengals. Members here are happy to answer questions and try to get you on the right track with your baby because we all have bengals ourselves.

There are countless websites that feature information on bengals. Breeders also offer great info on their websites, so just Google and read a lot.

Bengals make super pets, but they are high energy, highly vocal, demand attention, may not want to be picked up and held or lay on your lap. They love their humans and tend to follow you around as they want to be where their humans are. They enjoy climbing so a cat tree or cat shelves on the wall are a must.

Thank you both for the replies! I definitely appreciate it. We have both been doing lots of googling and research as we prepare to bring our little one home. We'll keep at it, and I'm sure you'll see me post the occasional question around the boards.

The best and most interesting cat book I have read was Vicky Halls - Cat Counsellor. It has heaps of behavioural stuff in it and really gives a good insight into how cats think.

I buy a lot of used CDs from Amazon, and I have seen the crazy high price when a CD is out of circulation.

And I have to agree - I don't usually see that type of "out of stock" strategy on Amazon. But it makes for entertaining moments. :)
