Kitten peed in our bed.... picky about litter box?

So yesterday morning I left for work. Soon after, I get a text from my boyfriend, who was till home at the time, telling me our Bengal kitten had peed on our bed.

I asked him how he did it, and he said he was scratching at the sheets, then peed in 3 different spots.

I thought that maybe he was still stressed/scared as we have only had him for 2 weeks, or he was marking his territory, or the litter box that morning wasn’t up to his standards.

I was surprised at this, as he was been perfect with using the litter boxes since day 1.

As soon as I got home, I cleaned both litter boxes out, washed them out and filled with fresh litter. As soon as I did this, while I was literally still pouring litter in, he came in and did a veeeerryyyy, very long wee.

I think him peeing on our bed was just his way of telling us the litter boxes need a clean!!

It is very important to keep his litter boxes clean at all times. Cats can be very picky about this.

Cats are super particular! You have two litter boxes, so one should always be completely clean! With some of the litters, it's best to leave the waste in there so it clumps completely. Raiden will use his a couple of times for pee, but he will always wait for it to e cleaned out for a poo. The only time it piles up is if he uses it overnight and I'm asleep.

Keep an eye on Zuki! IF he uses the bed again and again, then there could be something going on. If this was a one-time thing, consider yourself lucky. I hope you've taught your boyfriend how to clean the litter boxes as well. :biggrin:

Lastly, if you have two cats, you need three litter boxes.

Cat litter boxes should always be completely clean.It is very important to keep his litter boxes clean. With some of the litters, it's best to leave the waste in there so it clumps completely.

Young kitten s sometimes won't travel to far to pee in the box , they are not so strong to hold pee in that long.
Maybe good idea to keep him close to his litter box or add more litter boxes in place.
My kittens thought it was too far to go downstairs to pee , so we added more boxes.

Those living in multi-level homes need at least one litter box on each level! That's a must!!!
