Hello Everyone,

I have a 2.5 month old Bengal (Picked him up 4 days ago) and I absolutely adore him!
He is a very smart boy, and does everything as he should.
Ex: Uses litter box, eats normally, plays (very, very active)
My only concern is that comes night time, he is all over the place.
I understand that cats are nocturnal animals, but what I do not understand is this:
Every night, my boyfriend and I lay down and we put Jax on the bed with us.
He starts running around the bed, and does not stop.
He then starts biting my boyfriends toes through the covers, and no matter how many times we take him off, he comes back and does it again.
Yes, its adorable, but its also very irritating when you've just fallen asleep!
Eventually, everyone has enough.
We put him out of the bedroom and he goes to sleep on the bathroom rug, without a problem!
Does not cry, does not make any noise, just right to sleep.
So I am wondering why he cannot sleep with us that way, and is there any way I can train him to sleep with us?

For all the reasons you've quoted, our boys weren't allowed in our bedroom at night for a good while. Initially, we used to close them in the kitchen/conservatory where they had food, water and litter trays, and of course their beds. They knew when they went in there, that it was bed time - and it sounds like you closing your Jax out and the fact he then falls asleep on the bathroom rug means he associates that with bedtime.

I doubt he was allowed in the bedroom with the breeder so being in with you is all new and way too exciting.

We started to let have the run of the house (apart from our bedroom) when they over a year old and occasionally we let them on our bed for the night. They are always as good as gold as they appreciate it is a treat!

He'll get better with age, at the moment, its just too new and too much fun to attack any toe that moves - and like you say, it isn't much fun for the person being pounced on!!

Young kittens are going to want to play inappropriately and at inappropriate times. It's part of the package deal when you get a kitten. Fortunately (or unfortunately) they don't remain kittens forever. You have to decide whether the times when he's not doing that is worth having him in there with you.

When Serafina and Gaga were kittens, they (both) did the same thing. Something like a foot or a toe moving and rustling under a blanket is irresistible to a bengal kitten. So I worked through it with them, let them remain in the room (or put them out if they were too "bitey" on a particular night). If you play with your kitten right before bedtime, and tire him out, it will improve his behavior. Now they are really wonderful at night. They sleep soundly to my schedule, and get up when I do. No more biting.

I think if Jax is okay in the bathroom at night and it really helps you get a good night's sleep, then that's the way to go for the time being. Know that cats will usually pick their own places to sleep. Some cats want to sleep with their humans, others do not. Your little guy is a hyper bengal kitten. Know that he is still getting used to his new environment. He's a gorgeous kitty! Kittens will grow up. You can try to wear him out with play before bedtime, but cats are good at taking short cat naps and are up and ready to go again.
