I can get Raiden in his carrier with no problem. It has two doors on it and the top one is large and easy to just place him down into the carrier. I put his blanket in the bottom of the carrier, although it's always messed up by the time I get him down to the vet. I'm not about to start taking him on trips as I don't believe it would help alleviate his fears or his crying. He just doesn't want to be in a small cage. Last time to the vet, we were the only ones in the waiting room and he cried and cried. We have been there when there's a few large dogs and Raiden won't even whimper. My husband would love to get an RV and travel for a couple of years and I just don't think we can do it with Raiden.

I have been thinking of taking my two kitties on a 3 hour drive in December. They cry and whine during the two minute trip to the vets so I am not sure how it will go. That's 6 months from now, and they will be much more adult by then. I can't imagine boarding them would be better.

I did a 800-mile move with a previous kitty. She was perfect the entire way. She cried for a short time and then just settled into the carrier and was fine after that. I don't know that Raiden would do that ... but if we move again in a couple of years, I may get to find out. There's a huge difference between these two kitties. She was extremely laid back ... Raiden is not. He's on the go until he finally wears himself out to go to sleep.

My pet sitter moved with seven ferals and they all were sedated for the trip. I do think that Gracie and Blondie might settle down after a while. Would they be in one carrier or two? I've often thought about a collapsible crate that would be large enough for Raiden to stand up in and move around in. When you're on the road for 12 hours, it can get hard on a cat to be cooped up. We did do stops along our way with the other cat and had her on a leash. Found rest stops and took the carrier to a remote area and allowed her to come out to walk around.

I have 2 large carriers and each cat fills one up, lol. I would have to keep them in a carrier for safety but they would be separated. I drive a hybrid that is not very big, but they can be in the back seat facing each other. I need to replace one of my carriers, I am definitely going to look for one with wheels on the bottom.

Jill, are you sure Blondie and Gracie would want to be separated? I guess maybe if you faced the carrier doors so they could see each other. Sometimes I think it's the noise of the engine that bothers them, or maybe it's the motion of the vehicle. A hybrid would be much quieter, I would think. I just looked at the wheeled carriers. I don't really care for them as it appears the carrier needs to be laid down in order to have room for the pet to lay down. And when you want to wheel it, the cat has to sit up as that area is smaller. It would be nice to find something that rolled flat and maybe big enough for both cats -- but it would probably be too bulky to pick up and place in a car. I honestly don't know how I'd deal with having two cats and two carriers. Since this is a first for you -- good luck! LOL

I don't think I could manage one carrier with the two of them in it. They have just gotten too big. I still remember when they were young and I could carry them both around in my arms! They both fit in one carrier with lots of room to spare back then.

I know the carrier I have is heavy with Raiden in it and I usually bang him up against the walls as I'm going downstairs to the garage, and it doesn't help that he's moving in the process! Dealing with two carriers means two trips to get them where you need for them to be. A nice strong man would be nice to help out. LOL

Raiden will definitely be an only cat! He's a handful much of the time and there is no way I could deal with two of them!
