Hi

Otto is 5 months old and recently is being much more vocal. Even when we are sitting with him, he walks around crying.
Making me feel like a bad owner!!

My thoughts were:
1 he wants to go outside...he keeps staring outside and crying .....
2 he is hungry - we have fed him the same since the start 3x raw food a day. However we are noticing he is scoffing his food quickly when we give it to him. Does he need it more than 3x a day?
3 he is just getting to an age where he is more vocal?
4 should we spend more time when we get in playing vs sorting dinner etc? Although sitting with him doesn't always seem to help....

Can anyone advise?

Give as much as he will eat. It is amazing how much a kitten can eat.
Quasar ate up to 16 oz a day raw food at his peak. Now he only eats 8-10 oz.

I'd try the feeding.

x 3 times a day doesn't sound a lot.

When mine were kittens they were pretty much eating non-stop and I was free feeding.

Could be hungry and going through a growth spurt. I wouldn't hold back on food.

See if that makes any difference otherwise maybe he's just finding his voice!

I'd also try the feeding first. If you are only feeding him the same amount (regardless of how many times per day) as when he came to you then he is probably hungry. Mine had more than doubled their intake from when we got them to 5 months. You could even add a meal to increase his intake, for example breakfast, lunch, dinner and start to give him supper as well. If he is clearing his plate quickly he definitely needs more. The only time I knew my two were full was when I had something left in their bowls at that age, otherwise they were licked clean and they would cry for more.

Where do you see a rash, Brian? Nobody has addressed the "vocal" issue for the poster. Bengals are just highly vocal. You could purchase a harness and leash and train your kitty to walk outdoors. This is great exercise for the cat (and you sometimes) although it will reinforce the wanting to go outdoors more often. I take Raiden out for two walks a day -- morning and late afternoon.

Kittens are growing and need to eat multiple meals a day (just like babies--every few hours). You say you're feeding him a raw diet. If you think you're giving him enough for 24 hours -- then break it down into 5 to 6 meals a day instead of three.

As a kitten, he's highly energetic and probably needs multiple play times per day. Please know that bengals cry just because. They have no reason! Raiden will walk around the living room crying. He will be grooming himself and let out a meow. He just loves to hear himself cry! Thankfully, he does settle down about 8 p.m. and goes to sleep for the night.

The cry can get annoying most of the time and I always try to find out WHY Raiden is crying. Now he wants his morning walk, so I know why he's howling up a storm!
