Hello everyone. I want to start off my introducing you to my Memow. He is a fantastic Bengal/Abyssinian mix. We adopted him from a local no kill pet rescue organization (this organization tries to rescue cats and kittens from kill shelters in order to reduce that areas kill stats). Anyway we got him at about 6 months old, he was alre4ady fixed and everything.
This is my first experience with a Bengal, we wanted an abby and thought he was beautiful. Anyway, I am so happy we have him. For the most part he is a super laid back cat. He is not too wild and he loves cuddles. I am totally pleased with the breed to be honest. He is very large (12lbs, which is large for me, he is not fat, you can feel his ribs, he is just tall and long), but I love him.
Now, the issue I have is that I rescued a tiny little kitten female, we got her fixed as soon as we could. But she stayed super tiny, like 6lbs. So she is about half his size.
Lately, he has become quite sexually aggressive with her. I did do a little research and I know that the "attacks" on her are normal for cats. However, she is so tiny. I am worried about him harming her more than a normal sexual encounter would. I am pretty sure he doesn't actually intend to mate with her, just like a dry attack I guess you would say, more going through the motions. She usually slaps him and walks away.
Basically, is there something I should know about Bengal specifically. Like are they more aggressive that other breeds? Or can I do something to stop him from doing this to her?
I have seen where some people use boar mate to make her smell like a male to him...has anyone done that?
Thanks so much for your help. I am at a loss for what to do at this time. And I hope someone can help me.
PS, of course this is not an issue where we would get rid of either cat (I love both my babies and could never turn either away), I would just like for it not to happen. But if it is something we have to deal with, then we will deal with it. It is just such a shocking act, that I get a little nervous. I have only owned females, so I have never really witnessed this before.
Thanks again!
