Apollo's coming up for 6 months old and in the last couple of weeks has become quite unsociable.

He doesn't like being picked up, will wriggle and squeak and I can feel his heart beating away

He's not so fussed about stroking, doesn't respond positively and doesn't like anyone stroking his back, he'll pull it away

He's still mad for suckling and doesn't mind being touched at all when he's doing this

There's been no event I can think of that would have upset him and his brother Atlas is fine

He's still eating, drinking, playing, just a grump

He is perhaps just growing up and away from the, "I love everyone" kitten phase, but it may be that he has hurt himself and is in pain. I suggest a quick vet visit to make sure he is OK.

My bengals love to get their bellies rubbed, snuggle at night, and sit next to me on the couch, but they don't like to be picked up very much....like Elaine said he may just be growing out of that phase. My advice is to not push him to do what he doesn't want to do -- his next phase might be more cuddly again.

Adult relationships with cats can often be pretty different than kitten ones. Not liking being stroked on the back and not liking being picked up are not that uncommon. Try stroking on the head, cheeks, and most of all under the chin for best affect. But I think the way to a bengal's heart is definitely interactive play. Sometimes you need to become their friend before they can become yours.

My Raiden has never liked being picked up and he's not a snuggler either. He is quite sociable and loves being in the same room as we are and he lies to play. I didn't know Raiden when he was a kitten, so I don't really know how bengal kittens are. Normally, I'm grumpy when I'm tired or not feeling good. Maybe it's the same for the kitty.
