Hi, my 2 year 2 month old bengal has just started chewing off her whiskers on her legs. Nothing in the environment has changed. We have another bengal also but they have been together since 6 months of age. Can anyone please suggest why she may be doing this to herself and do you think I should take her to the vets? She hasnt caused herself any pain with it & she doesn't mind the area being touched but I'm just concerned that she is doing that to herself.

The whiskers on the front legs not the fur.

As long as there isn't any irritation or signs of fleas, I would think she will be ok. You may want to keep an eye out to make sure she isn't over-grooming or pulling out fur though. She doesn't have an ingrown claw in that area, does she?

No not an ingrown claw as same on both, it's also just up from her claws I suppose it's kind of where the inside of our elbow would be. she has the little black pad bits & used to have 2 long whiskers on each but now have been bitten off. She doesn't have fleas & appears to be no irritation, I will keep an eye on her, it's just strange that she has all of a sudden started doing this :(

My bengal doesn't have whiskers on his legs. It never hurts to take a cat to the vet to have them checked out. I'd rather have spent the money putting my mind at ease or finding out that there's something else problematic that may be causing this behavior.
