Hi all,

I recently got my first two kittens. Both male. Russian blue and bengal.
Russian blue is perfect. Toilet no issues. Very friendly. Loves to play with his bengal brother.

The bengal is great. His affectionate. Friendly. Alert. Loves to rumble with the Russian blue.
The problem is he seems to just poop anywhere he pleases lately.

He is only 8-9 weeks old. He knows where the litter is. Initially he went fine with the occasional mistake.

We keep them both in the one room and have the litter and food on opposite sides of the room.
They both know where the litter is.

Originally he could poop 90% in the litter. Lately he has gotten worse. Lucky to get 40% in the litter.

We keep it very clean. I work from home so I instantly remove any waste at all stages of the day.
I play with him often.
The Russian plays so much with him as well. He is well fed. Gets a lot of fun and love.

Even the other say he peed on the cat tower, he has never peed outside the litter before. That's only happened the once.

I know his routine. As soon as he wakes. He goes for a quick nibble then poops. Usually on a blanket. On the couch. If I can grab him in time. I take him to the litter. Try make him scratch the litter himself.
His not interested because his usually already dropped it.
If I grab him after his woken and had a nibble, before he attempts anything he will poop in the litter.

Unfortunately I can't watch him 24/7. It's getting progressively worse and I'm running out of options.
I'm getting to a point where if there isn't a turn around soon I will have to try and find him a new home. I don't want too but I am tired of cleaning poop off my furniture. Especially because it's diareah most of the time.

His not sick. His very happy and active. The breeder told me it's just his adjusting to a new diet.

So please. Any suggestions. Advice. Things to try.

He seems very young at 8-9 weeks to be away from his mother. Was he litter trained before you got him?

Has he been wormed etc?

Also I would definitely take him to the vet to rule out any medical issues.

I always take any new kitten to the vet for a health check.

Oh gosh .... that's really too young to be taken from his mother. You need to make sure you have three litter boxes. Put one where he tends to poop. He obviously is unable to control his urge to go to the bathroom and he needs time for that to develop. Usually, the breeder will litter box train them (or even the mother will). Your little guy could be stressed out in his new environment. Every cat will react differently. Your Russian Blue has settled in. Sometimes it takes longer for another cat. You should have taken your kitties to the vet to be checked out -- it's pretty normal procedure after you get a new kitten. If everything checks out okay, medically, then you've got to work with his behavior and try to get him to use the box. It's going to take some patience and lots of love and "good boy." Make sure you clean the areas completely as if there is any scent, he will go back to the spot again. There are also additives you can add to the cat litter to lure the cat in. Good luck.

Diarrhea can quickly lead to dehydration and severe illness in a kitten. It is a medical issue. He probably can't control it, which is why it is ending up whereever. Take him to the vet, he should be tested for parasites. Realize too that if he has a parasite, your other kitten can easily get it. The breeder can't see any critters in the kittens system, that is the vets job. If you haven't had both to the vet, I would do that as soon as possible.
