I have a new bengal kitten. He is only 9 weeks old so he's very needy, cuddly, and loving. I love it! But not always in the middle of the night when I'm trying to sleep Is there a way I can teach him to sleep in his own bed? I have it right by our bed because he likes to be near us at all times. Also, is there a way to help him sleep a little better through the night? He's my first bengal and like my baby. But this mama needs better sleep! :)

That's a difficult one - he is very young and is used to curling up with his mum and siblings I expect. I have two who we brought home at 14 weeks and they have never slept in our room at night, they have always slept in the kitchen/conservatory, but with two, they had each other and we've been lucky as they have never cried when I've put them to bed. I assume your bedroom is his safe room whilst he settles in, if not it may be worth seeing if he will settle in his safe room at night?

Otherwise, I'm not sure what so suggest, other than you need to make his bed really attractive to him in some way - does he use it at all (during the day?) or does he always want to sleep with/be near you?

We live in a smaller apartment right now. Only 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. He isn't allowed to play in the one room because it has storage and things I don't want him getting hurt. So his room is our living room and he knows it. He loves playing in there and has gotten very used to everything in there. He knows our room, is our room. He usually only goes in there when we're in there (the door is left open when we're home). He is starting to use his bed a little, but he prefers to sleep on us. I'm doing things to help him get used to using it though. Last night we shut our bedroom door when it was time for bed. He meowed for a few minutes right after, but he called down and we didn't hear him until this morning when we woke up and started talking.

He's adorable. My kids sleep in their cat tree when I'm away. I got them a nice 5 foot tall condo and they curl up together there which has made the sleeping issue easy. They sleep in their room.

My bengal is seven years old and he sleeps where he wants to sleep. Sometimes it's his cat tree, sometimes in his heated, hooded bed, sometimes on the ottoman, but he really loves to sleep in our bed, which is fine. Last night he let me sleep the entire night, which he normally doesn't do. He wakes me up once and I'll get up and open a can of food for him. Bengals are like toddlers -- babies that never grow up. Some nights they will sleep better than others. I've had cats all my life and most are active at night when you're trying to sleep. Raiden settles down once it gets dark outside and goes to bed .... so getting him to sleep for 7 hours (although it's only 3 a.m.) is pretty good. Bengals do love to be with their humans.
