I have two twin boys and I found their play very aggressive when I first witnessed it! However, I think after a while you can tell when it has gone too far, in particular if they start biting each other in sensitive areas or one of them starts to squeal I usually try to stop them without getting hurt myself! But when you really watch them, most of the time they are actually very gentle with each other and whilst their claws are frequently out when playing with us humans, they never seem to scratch each other. I also know they are just playing when I walk by and find them in full flow and they stop dead to look at me, one will have the other in a full body lock on the floor and they both just look at me to see if they are going to get told off! If they really meant it they wouldn't stop just because I was strolling by.
Make sure they have plenty of high places they can run to if one is beating up on the other or one's had enough. My two are 14 months old now and its so far so good - in fact this weekend they were curled up together on the footstool, grooming each other so fingers crossed they carry on this way! There are no guarantees though and I'm not sure what you can physically do to stop them getting territorial or not liking each other anymore. The only thing I am very careful of is to treat them both the same to avoid any jealousy - I always try to make sure they have equal attention even if it means me getting up if one is sat near me for a fuss, to pet the other one if I can feel his beady eyes on me from wherever he is lurking!
On food and litter trays, I would buy at least two of the largest litter trays you can find as whilst we bought large, we had to upgrade quite quickly to jumbo as they got older and bigger, ideally you should have three litter trays if you have two cats, one each and a spare.
I would also move them on to two plates so they effectively have one each even though they are fine with it at the moment. I have two wet food bowls and two dry food bowls although there is always some bowl swapping. Jagger is a competitive eater (although he's got better now he's older) and will gobble all his up and would growl at Hendrix if he came near his bowl whereas Hendrix is a nibbler and goes back and forth for his food.
Hope this helps and good luck with your new additions to the family!
