Hi guys,

So my 1 year-old cat always jumps on me when I try to study. Today I was laying on a couch and she came as usual, face-to-face with me, asking to be pet and tackling my face with her head. Usually she just falls asleep after a few moment, but she was very persistent and tried to bite my neck/chest after a while. Nothing that hurts, so I just let out a ''shhhhhh'' and gave her my ''bad look''. She stopped for a few minutes then tried again, and again, and again. So I pushed her back on the floor in a light move and she was standing still awfully disoriented for at least 5 minutes, looking at me with a weird look.

What was she trying to do lol? She wasn't trying to hurt me for sure and she was the one asking to be pet. She usually never bites, I mean never ever try to.

After further reflection, I think it's because I bit her with my lips earlier in the day. Nothing bad I can reassure you , it's just that they are so soft She may have taken this as an example of love.

Anyway she didn't try to do it again (as I said, every time I study = she comes to get pet / to sleep on me. It's so cute.)

Those cats are so smart.

I think it's pretty common cat social behavior. I used to have a cat that would walk up to me, open her mouth, and put her jaws/teeth across my hard or arm, and not bite down (or bite down very gently without puncturing the skin). Then would proceed to lick me, often purring and "kneeding" with her paws.. I've seen cats do the same thing to each other. A soft "bite" followed by licking, possibly followed by another "bite". No clue why they do it, but they do.

Bengals insist on attention, attention and more attention! Mine is seven years old and he is constantly (when he's awake) wanting someone to pet his belly or play with him. It never ends! I don't have the time or energy to keep up with him. Yours is still a little one ..... it may get better with time, but the bengal just loves being around people and the center of attention.

I think it might have something to do with how the mother cat looks after it's kittens. I've watched cats grab their kittens between it's mouth and bite down (not in an aggressive way) and then start washing them.

I think it's a sign of affection. Probably the 'look' you got was that she was a bit put out you didn't appreciate it lol!

Hahaha, those cats are really special. I have trouble keeping up with mine too, but I'd say she's pretty calm for a Bengal if I compare her to most of the stories of other owners. But eh, like you said, she's pretty young... She still got time to make me crazy lol.
