Hello everyone. I was wondering if any if you experienced this with your bengal.

I have a seven month old girl snow mink who has been on a raw diet since I got her at three months.
She has been eating fine up until two days ago. She wouldn't touch her raw food anymore. I've been feeding her a turkey ground mixture. I had to sprinkle some raw freeze dried chicken on top to even get her to eat a little bit. Her environment had not changed at all and she's been acting fine.

Has anyone experienced this ?

This could be perfectly normal. Sometimes cats change their eating habits. As long as she's eating something -- you find something that she likes. I don't know, but I'd probably get tired of eating the same thing day after day. I change Raiden's type of food daily.

update** so i gave her some kibble dental treats and she had them fine (about 4 pieces this morning), and she even ate a tiny cut up piece of raw chicken. but she seems to not want to eat anything (no raw/wet). she is also napping a lot more now. her appetite stimulant doesn't seem to work, and she seems to lick her lips and mouth whenever i put food in her (it sounds like when someone puts something to taste in their mouth and they make that tongue chapped sound..?) it looks like something may be coming up but she hasn't thrown up anything at all.

i'm hoping this is just a phase and that maybe it's the heat. it has been more hot than usual as of late. she keeps meowing like she's hungry :(

i hope someone who's experienced this has some insight!

Can you see anything down her throat? Does she like to chew things or eat string? If she is doing a lot of licking and gum slapping that could also be a sign of nausea. Is she drinking water? Using the litter box? Any vomiting?

Get her eating again before you worry about raw. There are complete foods out there that aren't raw and there is also a lot of room for human error in making a raw cat food diet, in my opinion.

It is very hard to give any advice on things like this.

If I were you, I would take her to a vet just to be sure that there is no health issue.

And only if a vet thinks that she is healthy then it is possible to discuss what you can do to improve appetite.

I don't want to jinx but almost all diseases start with losing appetite.

Licking lips indicates she is feeling sick, meowing may mean she is in pain, not eating right and sleeping a lot -> vet ASAP

OP took the cat to the vet and there is nothing wrong with the kitty! I've never fed Raiden raw anything. He gets canned and dry food -- I just change out the canned food daily with turkey, chicken and beef, which is about all he will eat. Some days he will inhale the food. Other days, he leaves much of it. I don't consider it abnormal at all. He is at a proper weight and body type. There are days when we eat more or don't particularly feel like eating something particular! I do see that bengal owners seem to panic a little more -- at the least little change in the kitty.

Change out the food for her. You'll hit on something that she likes. You can always try to add some raw into it, but maybe your cat has decided raw isn't the way to go. She appears to have an appetite -- she just is turning her nose up at raw food right now. She needs the nourishment, so give her what she likes to eat.

It sounds like everything else with her is normal.

Did she have normal temperature at the vets?

As already mentioned lower activity levels and loss of appetite together are not good.

I would take her back, you can't spend forever trying to get a cat to eat different foods, they do not cope well without proper nutrition for too long at all. I would explain to the vet re the trying to bring something up, they may need to investigate further.

Just to put some perspective on this without trying to worry too much but a good friend of mine had a dog that had a bone stuck in their throat, she would never have known had it not been for lack of appetite as she was fine in herself.

Even if just for piece of mind get a second vet check.
