So my boy, Clive, recently started to show some separation anxiety behaviour we think...
He is over 2 years old now and he always seeks extra attention but now its very much escalated. and I dont know why !
The only major change in our house was that we started to spend on average 2 extra hours more a day with them then before.
its to do with the change of jobs and working hours.
The boy just would not let me go - sleeps with me, sits by me constantly, demands cuddles all the time, wants to play only with me ( not our girl Indiya) and gets upset when i go to work in the morning.
Ah .. also some spraying when we are away from the house, and back to peeing normally when we return.

It breaks my heart. I tried to give him 1/2 zylkene the other day, as he was very agitated and could not relax, which helped, - but i dont want to give it to him all the time.

This is my best guess that it is separation anxiety, but i cannot be certain.

We also had some young kittens born in the neighbourhood recently, although i have not seen them at our front garden as yet, i am sure they could be there during the day when we are at work and upset Clive ?

All good ideas /advice what to do to help him would be very welcome.

You've pretty much answered your own questions. First of all bengals love humans and human interaction. They were used to your being with them and now they're by themselves more. Any change is going to throw off a cat until they get accustomed to the change. This appears to be a sudden change in your hours with them and not gradual. You have two kitties and they should keep each other occupied while you're gone.

Another cat anywhere outside can cause anxiety and stress in indoor cats. You've got to find a way to keep other cats off your property. Even if you can't see them, your cats know they are around.

They are some holistic remedies on the market that can help with various cat behaviors. I'm not big on medications unless they are absolutely necessary, but I'm sure you can find something that may help their stress levels.

I just caught that when I reread your original post. Spending more time with your kitties should not cause any undue anxiety or stress. Most bengals love the extra attention. And cats have no idea of time. They only know it's light or dark outside. They won't remember how long it's been since they've eaten or been played with. I associate separation anxiety when the cats are left alone for a longer period of time, missing their owners. Spending more time with them won't cause that. Something else is the culprit.
