I have a bengal kitten, he is about seven months old. He chewed up my couch, my kitchen chair, my homework and he recently chewed off the strap to my new shirt. He is crazy all the time! He gets into the trash and chews everything!!! I currently use a spray bottle. As soon as I grab the bottle he starts running. A lot of the times I tell him "NO!" he stops, stares, and then goes back to what he was doing. I am nearing wits end with him and need some advice as what to do. I feel like he is super clingy. I have never had a cat that just follows me everywhere and hates being alone. He talks constantly! I love him to death and I really don't want to have to get rid of him. When he's tired he is so sweet and loving. He is just very curious and gets into things he shouldn't.

I suggest you spend much more time playing with him. He needs lots of active, energetic play. He is not being naughty, he is playing in the only ways he can think of! You don't need expensive toys. Newspaper scrunched up in a box. Cheap rubber balls. Any kind of wand toy (although Da Bird is famous for their success). Please try lots more play with him - after maybe 30 minutes he will tire and be happy to rest. Wishing you the best - hope this helps

If he likes to chew, you might want to start buying him chewing sticks for small dogs/puppies. My cats love them.

And as it was advised just make him play actively couple times per day.

The chewing could be down to the fact he's teething, so as has been suggested provide him with something he is allowed to chew - mine liked boxes which stopped them chewing tables and chair legs. They don't do it anymore so he may stop once all his adult teeth are through.

Bengals really love their human's company so there is nothing you can do about him following you around. That's what you signed up for when you got him!!!

Good luck!

Five stars for Brian's response! This kitten needs playtime and more playtime. You've got to wear the little guy out daily! Bengals love to interact with people. They want to be with you at all times and they want the attention. Many times I don't get things done around the house because my bengal is crying and wants me to come and spend time with him -- rubbing his belly, playing, whatever. It's like having a two-year-old toddler that will NEVER grow up! I'd always had cats that ignored you, found a spot in a dark corner and slept for 20 hours a day. No bengal will do this! They take short cat naps, they are out and about and always doing something. It's the breed and there's nothing you can do to change it. Spraying water on your kitty will only make him fear you -- or maybe he loves the water because bengals do love water. Regardless, he's being a bengal and there's no reason to punish him for being normal. I know it's frustrating, but he's trying to tell you that he wants and needs the attention.

Thanks for all the advice! I recently got him a little doggie chew toy that is safe, and I am going to kitty proof my place. Especially with all the stuff I don't want him to get in. So, hopefully that eliminates all the problems that I can avoid. Another thing that is kind of odd, he likes to play and roll around in his litter box. I have never had a cat that does this. I don't punish him because I don't want him to be scared to use it, but I don't really want him rolling around in his "stuff". I am looking into getting cardboard boxes just to let him play in, so I am hoping that helps.
I am guessing he is teething now too. He is just about 7 months old. I only found one tooth that he had brought to me and then ran away. Any specific names of toys you guys would suggest? He has a lot of stuffed animals and I typically see them in his food dish. Myabe he thinks they are hungry too. He has a tunnel, which he loves. He sways back and forth and then wiggles his butt everytime he runs through it. I would like some more toys that he can play w while I'm sleeping.

He does have one of those carpet tower deals and he loves that. I am looking into getting a bigger one since he has grown a lot since I purchased the first one. He hops on the couches and runs all throughout my place. He climbs on a bookshelf.

Of an evening, when I am relaxing on the sofa, my boy Simba will often look at me to check if I am watching him, then he very cheekily starts to chew on the flower arrangement I have in the living room. I used to say "no" and his response would be to just stare at me, blink, then recommence destroying my flower arrangement.

I've found that distracting him is the best course. Picking up a toy, asking him to come to me and speaking to him in that ridiculously squeaky mumsy tone I regularly find myself using with the cats. But this works quite well. They are just over a year old and not as destructive as they were at first.

That said, I do not give my cats free reign of the house. They would get into total mischief. I'm afraid that when I am out at work, they have their "cat room". When I am at home doing housework or just relaxing then I tend to keep them in whatever room I am in so I can keep a close eye on them. This arrangement seems to suits them well as they love to be with me. At mealtimes/bedtime then they go back to their cat room. I'm hoping the cat enclosure will be ready soon because they really need a bit more space to claim as their own. xx
